Very Serious Question

Remember when people were saying that liberal bloggers and comedians wouldn’t have anything to talk about if Barack Obama won the election?

Very Serious Answer:I was thinking about this on Thursday when John Stewart was making Jim Cramer cry. I really thought that the “Daily Show” would suffer without Bush. I am really happy with the way things are going. It feels like the liberals have put their balls/thatchers on and starting going deeper into the problems of this country. Bush really had a cloud of oppression on the press/media.

I hoped that they wouldn’t have anything to talk about, but I pretty much knew the republican douchebaggery would continue.

GI: I don’t think the Bush administration had an oppressive cloud as much as so many problems on the surface that the news people really didn’t have to dig deep to find juicy stories. Go for the easy ones until they run out, I suppose.

I was just saying this to a friend the other day.

The Daily Show did fine when Clinton was president. I can’t remember the name of the first Daily Show host nor can I remember what year Jon took over. Jon made the Daily Show what it is today. I sort of miss the original Daily Show intro graphics with the kung fu head crush segment.I’ve always been a fan of Jon ever since he was the host of Short Attention Span Theater which aired on Comedy Central at 18:00 weekdays in the 90s when MST3K was on every Saturday at 19:00.

    ummmm…..Craig Kilborn.

Wouldn’t have anything to talk about? Take power from the Republacons and they only get crazier.mmm, taste the wingnutty goodness.

Nah, that was always bullshit. Good comic writers never have a dearth of things to write about, hacks always need something silly to chatter about. I’m sure people email you wacky news articles all the time and urge you to blog them up.

ummmm…..Craig Kilborn.Posted by: ceu at March 14, 2009 1:58 PMhated him when he hosted The Daily Show (especially when he started saying “YOUR Daily Show” near the end of his run); miss the hell out of him as host of the late, late show

I think that Bill Maher is having bit of trouble finding his footing without Bush. His first two shows of this season were really flat. The one from last night was a bit better, but he has still lost a bit of his edge. Everybody just needs a little time to reboot after 8 years of Bush torture.

MG, I can’t name someone with a bigger opinion of himself than Kilborn, maybe Jim Rome.

There is even some stuff the Obama administration is doing (or not) that needs some attention from us too. Like the lame Bernanke Geithner duo and the fact that Afghanistan may become another foreign black hole for us. And yes, we still have plenty of Repube, Wall Street, and general American douchery to keep keep us imflamed.

Thanks Chris.I couldn’t remember Kilborn’s name. I did not mind Craig as the host of the Daily Show, but I thought the show got better with Stewart at the helm. Stewart has always had a knack for quick wit which helps when you have as much ‘off the script’ stuff as the Daily show has. That’s also what makes Colbert so impressive.Kilborn’s stint on the late, late show was his best work.

Actually…I was one of the folks in that camp, however, when the Daily Show and Colbert came back on after the election and with Rachel Maddow and Keith out there. I’ve found some of the stuff funnier then even during the Bush years.
