It does seem that way, Incredulous. If we are torturing brown people to “save American lives,” it’s not torture and it’s necessary. But if these same techniques were used on American servicemen and women by, say, Iran or Syria to save Iranian or Syrian lives, the Hannity’s and the O’Reilly’s would be demanding we go to war over it. Or in O’Reilly’s case, at least demanding we not visit Iran or buy any of it’s products.It is amazing how they can justify literally everything they’ve done as “necessary to protect American lives” when the reality, the reality that is out there for the whole world to see, was that it was all — every fucking bucket of water poured down some Afghan’s throat — was as Bob said part of a criminal conspiracy designed to get us into Iraq. It had nothing to do with protecting Americans because the oceans didn’t anymore.Again, the Cheney Coven is obviously trying to keep the discussion on “enhanced techniques” and far far away from the truth. As long as we continue to be sidetracked by “what is torture and what is necessary to protect Americans” we don’t end up asking Cheney the most important question:How have you and your cohorts profited from this?
