Liz chose to wear an invisible swastika arm band, but I could see it rather clearly anyway. Her Daddy must be proud. She lies better than he does.

Glenn Greenwald has some interesting things to say about the media coverage…

It’s not only that they lie, Silly, it’s the absolute certitude of what they are saying in spite of a shit-tonne of evidence to the contrary. Here’s the question I want put to her, Cheney and all the rest of those shitbirds because maybe it will send a chill up the spines of the “torture the brown people” crowd –Were any of these “enhanced techniques” used on any American citizens? Not that it would make those acts of torture any more serious because it was an American, but if these torture fanboys see that the Bush administration had no problem torturing an American (and felt it was perfectly within it’s power to do so), the fanboys would shut right the fuck up.

Nano, you nailed it with the “torture the brown people” quote.

  • Nanotyrannus

It does seem that way, Incredulous. If we are torturing brown people to “save American lives,” it’s not torture and it’s necessary. But if these same techniques were used on American servicemen and women by, say, Iran or Syria to save Iranian or Syrian lives, the Hannity’s and the O’Reilly’s would be demanding we go to war over it. Or in O’Reilly’s case, at least demanding we not visit Iran or buy any of it’s products. It is amazing how they can justify literally everything they’ve done as “necessary to protect American lives” when the reality, the reality that is out there for the whole world to see, was that it was all — every fucking bucket of water poured down some Afghan’s throat — was as Bob said part of a criminal conspiracy designed to get us into Iraq. It had nothing to do with protecting Americans because the oceans didn’t anymore.Again, the Cheney Coven is obviously trying to keep the discussion on “enhanced techniques” and far far away from the truth. I think Bob nailed it today. The truth is this was about getting into Iraq. As long as we continue to be sidetracked by “what is torture and what is necessary to protect Americans” we don’t end up asking Cheney the most important question:How have you and your cohorts profited from this?

  • ceu

Hmmm…Nano – should we ask John Walker Lindh or Jose Padilla?

  • ceu

clarifying – my comment was in response to this:Were any of these “enhanced techniques” used on any American citizens?

  • Nanotyrannus

Good call ceu – two American citizens that were declared “enemy combatants”(a term originally coined to classify terrorists and put them outside the protections of the Geneva Conventions) and effectively disappeared.
