FOX News Fail

Doy! In an accidental open mic conversation, Cavuto and his people agree on a crowd estimate of 5,000. But when he goes live, he claims the numbers are “double or triple” that number.

Does anybody remember seeing any “skyshots” from these events yesterday? Most major market news orgs have choppers. Were there any in the sky shooting footage of these “massive” protests?

Yay, Cavuto. Smart: tell everyone how wildly successful yesterday was so that they think they’re in the majority. Then they can become complacent and lose more elections. Way to work against your own cause. Then again, this was Mr. “we covered the Million March a year before we were on the air.”I ask this to the community at large: does anyone here actually see protests as a major way to implement change? The best case scenario I can see is making contacts to get together and work to get a candidate elected. I just don’t think the “powers that be” in Washington really care one way or the other, and, worse, usually the message you want to get across gets lost.Just my nickel.

I think protests can send a message if they are big enough and coherent enough. Remember when hundreds of thousands of Latinos took to the streets a couple years ago when the Whities on the Right wanted to bus them back to Mexico? Scared the fuck out of them, it did. So did the record turnouts for Obama during the election. Scared the fuck out of the Right, I guarantee you. That’s why they are making such a big fuss about this. They want to appear to have some legitimacy, some credibility for their insane cause, and the appearance of creating a “massive protest” against Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s socialist/fascist/marxist policies is something they believe will give them that credibility. What they don’t seem to realize is how transparent this whole thing is. There may be a few people somewhere in that crowd with legitimate concerns, but whatever credibility they may have had has been co-opted and destroyed by a bunch of hollow-souled entertainers at FOXNews that have been searching for months for that just-right issue that they can amplify into fear and ratings. And it’s completely obvious to anyone that doesn’t subscribe to their particular brand of States Rights Crazy. I mean, honestly, in 2009, they are having what appears to be serious discussions about states seceding from the Union while at the same time demanding to be taken seriously! After talking about how the U.S.A. (cue the Lee Greenwood crap) is right and never wrong, and you are either with us or against us, and how if you question the President you want the country to fail and lose a war, they are now seriously talking about the dissolution of that very country. And not one of them can offer a single coherent argument why. They just know it’s a good idea, and hey, Glen Beck agrees with them.

It’s a pattern! Here’s one Huntsville, AL talk radio blowhard’s blog:”I spoke to the traffic control officers and they estimate the crowd at around 2000 people. Every media out let (sic) is estimating more (between 3,000 and 4,000)… It was such a success that, I AM THE ONE UNDERESTIMATING…”Apparently, ‘every media out let’ does not include the Huntsville Times newspaper, which says 2,000 people were there. It also doesn’t include any of the TV stations in Huntsville, which all said 2,000.By the weekend the teabaggers will claim millions of Americans showed up to protest.

WHAT?!?!?!? Fox News lied to us?!?!?!?This just completely wrecks my entire world view. Next thing I know, someone is going to tell me that the moon isn’t made out of feta cheese.

I’m willing to bet, Matt, that all the protests/Secession Rallies combined wont equal the turnout for Obama’s last visit to Denver.

    Fox News:

Teabagging, for those who don’t live in a frat house, refers to a sexual act involving part of the male genitalia and a second person’s face or mouth.

I’m pretty sure Olberman says “vas deferens in reporting” there at the end. If so he is a sly dog and I approve.

  • SD4Peace

He’s been throwing those in all week. Did you notice the names of the cities he named that had events. I was crying, I don’t know how he did it with a straight face.

And did Keith throw in another “teabagging” pun, at the end? Did he say, “vast difference”, or “vas deferens”?
