This is all careful posturing. By cutting some big failed weapons programs but increasing in other areas they can actually play both sides of the debate to their advantage.Obama did say himself though through the whole campaign that he wanted to cut programs that dont work and increase ones that do. So there again its very well thought out posturing and policy.

The commentariat has long ago abandoned any pretense of accuracy and reality-based reporting. Instead, they latch on to memes, anything that produces controversy and therefore readership. Whether the meme is actually based on fact is beside the issue, and not even worth consideration.

I’m late catching up on my reading/commenting again, but in case anyone else is reading this let me say again, that pro-defense industry is not the same as pro-military.

Regardless of Obama’s & Gates’ desires, Congress will still force DoD and the services to flush money down the drain for their pet projects.
