fucking beautiful.does this dude sneak in the back door at fnc studios every night or what?smith really did nail it.the right is attempting-very effectively as a matter of fact-to peddle this bullshit that anyone who opposes tortue does so because they feel bad for the terrorists.because it breaks their heart to see a guy who plotted to kill thousands of americans treated unkindly.they either dont get it,or theyre being completely disingenuous when they ignore the fact that its not about the terrorists, its not about who THEY are,how bad and evil THEY are.its about this country.its about how WE behave.the argument is always “theyre the bad guys, and we just did what we had to do to defend our country”well guess what, the japanese soldiers we prosecuted after ww2 were merely defending their country against “bad guys”.this is the epitome of the whole “america is arrogant” argument.it sounds like nixon…”its not illegal when america does it”.

Whoa! That’s gonna have some fallout, and will of course make the rounds on the interweb tubes. Way to go Shep!! How does he stomach working at Fox? I can’t even _watch_ more than 10 minutes.

Shep has shown signs through the years as being the only one at False Noise Network to actually have a few brain cells to rub together. He must get one whopper of a paycheck to stay there. It would be nice to see him call out more of the insanity that they preach at that propaganda mill.

Thank you Shep.Whether or not it was effective is beside the point. Torture is totally illegal and it is totally morally wrong. Anyone making claims about how effective it was justifying it is not a Christian. They are amoral criminal enablers.
How soon before Fox fired Shep Smith and he has a new 10pm slot on MSNBC?He’s got it down. We are America. We DO NOT torture. (fucking) And the douche sitting to his right says, “…I’m not saying that torture is right or wrong…” WHAT THE FUCK?! If you’re not saying it’s wrong, then in your mind it’s open for debate and THERE IS NO DEBATE!Also, catch someone whispering into Shep’s earpiece as he mutters “Oops” under his breath when he realized he dropped the F-Bomb. CLASSIC!

Does the right even realize that by justifying and allowing torture to become an accepted practice against “them” in order to “protect us”, that it can eventually be introduced domestically? Does that even occur to them? Using all their mental gymnastics to justify torture, it can also be applied to illegal immigrants suspected of smuggling, gang members, et al.Torture is wrong. I cannot think of an instance that would justify it.

This was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.I love where about five seconds after the F-bomb he says, “oops” like he realizes what he said. I love this.Karl Rove has tried to turn this into a left-right issue. If you are for doing “whatever it takes” to defend America, you are Republican and you are right. If you have limits to what you consider acceptable tactics to use when fighting a war, you are a a Democrat, and you are a pussy. There could be nothing that is less of a Right-Left argument. This is a do you believe in the values of our founding fathers, or do you believe that drastic times call for throwing the Constitution out the window. The fact of the matter is, as SUNY Brockport Political Science Professor David Stavely can attest (having almost failed his class in ’03 for disagreeing on this point) 9-11 scared the shit out of a lot of people. People no longer felt safe in their happy little lives, as Tyler Derden was discribe it, they had lost their illusion of safety. And in this new world, where the illusion of safety had been torn down, people were willing to forget the values that make this country special and do what ever those in power told them to do inorder to regain some semblance of the “saftey” they felt before. In this act, this “pee-your-pants” response to Terror, is the ultimate truth of 9-11. Whether that act was perpetrated by Muslim Extremists, our own Government, or some combination (as I think it was) the result was exactly what “they” were looking for. Which was scaring enough people into going along with whatever the Cheney-Bush Cabal wanted them to go along with. This, 9-11, torture, Iraq, Afganistan, Blackwater, GitMo, all of this is about one thing and one thing only. Money. Ok, two things, Money and Power.

I loves me some Shep. Too bad my doctor doesn’t let me watch Fox any more…..
Holy cow! We’ve had a visit by Zaphod Beeblebrox! And, yes, Shep Smith is made of AWESOME! QT

I remember seeing him absolutely lay into Nader on election night for referring to Obama as an Uncle Tom. I thought at the time that it was just Fox trying to make it seem like they were a part of the historic moment. Seems now like it might have been legitimate incredulity.Shep at Fox is like Beck at CNN. The man seriously needs to get on with a different network.

How this is not the consensus from our media is beyond me–This is so cut and dried. I understand the reaction of the hard core wing nuts, but our MSM is covering this as a political story, and not a legal, moral, and ethical story.

Two schools of thought? What two schools? You have the people who say torture is fucking wrong and you have the fuckwits who aren’t doing any thinking at all.
