Have You Left No Sense of Decency?

Because this sort of thing turned out so well for Joe McCarthy:

Rep. Spencer Bachus, the top Republican on the Financial Services Committee, told a hometown crowd in Alabama today he believes there are several socialists in the House. Actually, he says there are exactly 17 socialists in the House of Representatives.

Which, of course, implies a “list.” By the way, is there any difference between this and Scarborough repeatedly playing the “socialism” card on his show every morning? Neo-McCarthyism is neo-McCarthyism, lists or not.

“There are exactly 57 socialists in the House of Representatives.” He likes Heinze Ketchup also too.

Has no one told him about Sanders yet?Shit, they’re everywhere!

I still think we should give credit where credit is due and call it “Bachmannism.” If you called it “Bachusism,” someone might confuse it with an entertaining evening of wine and assorted debauchery…….

The answer to the title of your post is “No.”

no one’s buying it. Well, actually a significant percentage of people do, but they are an extreme minority. Unfortunately they’re also the extremIST minority and I’m scared to death of them. These aren’t electoral tactics by the republicans. They can’t honestly expect to gain seats in 2010 from this strategy. It’s starting to look like an actual revolution and it’s already gotten violent.

I agree w Jeff. Socialism doesn’t have the same fear raising factor that Communism did in the 50′s. So they are ranting, but no one’s listening. (Well, almost no one.).

I’ll say it again, no one should be allowed to use the words ‘Socialism’, ‘Communism’ or ‘Fascism’ unless they know the actual meaning of each of these words. And this asshole congressman does not.
