A breach of protocol? Hardly. Buckingham Palace was very relaxed today about the incident, and attitudes there have changed significantly since the days of Mr Keating and his lese-majesty. And no, they don’t issue instructions to people about not touching the Queen.

    Hey Bob- you’re the Resident President Geek – isn’t there something like similar that applies to the President? I think I remember hearing that someone did that to President Bush, reached out and gripped his arm or something, and it was said that it’s protocol that you’re not supposed to just reach out and touch the president like that.
