I have one, but it was not a color I would have chosen if I had more choices. On another note…Im happy to see Eugene Robinson got a Pulitzer. I always like to see what he has to say on MSNBC.

Am I the only one slightly amused by the JP Morgan CEO coming out today to say that the Iraq War may have played a part in the financial crisis and that Iraqi oil production being offline for years didn’t help either?I mean… Duh?Its both funny and sad that a CEO of a major bank would just now be suggesting this.Cutting the top tax brackets, bottomed out interest rates, tripling spending, almost zero accountability, all for and with a war… Gee who’da thunk it would play a part in the financial crisis? Someone get this CEO an award in rocket science.

I vant to strap Lush Rimjob to a comfy chair and force him to listen to to the following lineup while poking him with soft pillows.Brian Eno’s Here Come the Warm Jets. Entire album.Every Barry Manalow album.Every Twisted Sister Album.Every Metallica Album.Every New Kids on the Block Album.Every Guns n Roses Album.Would this be torture?

  • fe

yes.although, Limbaugh is just the sort who would enjoy it.Also, I love that you always reference Monty Python.

spacecowboy -The Blondie “Parallel Lines” album did have a song titled “Fade Away and Radiate” which did have Robert Fripp on guitar. Fripp plays guitar on about half the songs on the Eno album of my previous post including the Goddamned Awesome song “Baby’s On Fire”. I am huge Fripp and Eno fan.

  • thespacecowboy

@ Git – thanks for that! Did not know.I’m a huge King Crimson fan and love me some Eno as well.

  • http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/bird/flamingo/honolulu/flamingo01.jpg veralynn

I will agree with every thing you listed Git, with one exception. I have to say GnR’s first album is one of my favorites.

  • thespacecowboy

Oh, and Percy Jones is tits on some of those Eno albums.

  • RockandTroll

    Greetings Cheeto Heads.

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

Lark’s Tongues in Aspic is still my favorite Crimson album but the new stuff is good too. I particularly like Thrak.Eno’s first two are my favorites but I like all of his work since he keeps changing what he is doing. Here comes the warm Jets is the best acid rock album ever made IMO. I’ve been waiting for something to displace it, but it appears that no one can.If I really wanted to torture Lush, I think I’d play “Driving Me Backwards” over and ever. It’s a disturbing song (last song, first side Here come the warm jets) and most people don’t care for it.Lyrics sample:Meet my relationsAll of them, grinning like facemasks, suchsweet inspirationda da da da da da da daeye ye ye ye ye ye ye

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

Percy Jones Plays bass on nearly every song on Here Come the Warm Jets. He did not have permission from his label to appear on an Island label recording so he is credited as Busta Cherry Jones.Phil Collins plays drums on several songs on that album as well. The rest of the musicians were Roxy Music people Manzanera, et. al. Just not Fairey.

  • thespacecowboy

Can not disagree with you there Git.Another Green World is one of my all-time faves (any artist). My recording buddy and I attempted to get ‘Red’ down to play with a drummer friend, but it’s a damn difficult song. We’ve gotten really close, just not close enough to bust it out with a drummer.

  • RockandTroll

Just one post today, and it’s a sad one, in my opinion, for ALL of us. I didn’t want to make another Corporation even more filthy rich either.http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Obamas-hidden-bailout-of-General-Electric_03_04-40686707.htmlSelected QuotesObama’s hidden bailout of General Electric“GE — a member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, which advocates cap and trade — leads the push for greenhouse gas restrictions. In the fourth quarter of 2008 as the company’s stock fell 30 percent, GE spent $4.26 million on lobbying — that’s $46,304 each day, including weekends, Thanksgiving and Christmas. In 2008, the company spent a grand total of $18.66 million on lobbying.Reviewing their lobbying filings, you might think you were looking at Al Gore’s agenda. GE’s specific lobbying issues included the “Climate Stewardship Act,” “Electric Utility Cap and Trade Act,” “Global Warming Reduction Act,” “Federal Government Greenhouse Gas Registry Act,” “Low Carbon Economy Act,” and “Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act.”This isn’t altruism or public relations. GE has started a joint venture called Greenhouse Gas Services, which invests in — and hopes to manage the trade in — greenhouse gas credits. But these investments and this trading floor are of basically no use and nearly no value without government restrictions on greenhouse gases.Hence the lobbying, buttressed by generous campaign contributions: Employees and executives gave $1.35 million to politicians in the past election while GE’s political action committee shelled out $1.55 million. About 64 percent of this $2.9 million went to Democrats, with Obama easily the top recipient of GE money.Obama’s budget includes the payoff, promising to start a multibillion-dollar greenhouse gas industry by 2012. In a letter this week, GE’S Immelt told shareholders that current events present an “opportunity of a lifetime,” because “capitalism will be ‘reset.’ ””

Techno People claim that Eno invented Techno. Many consider “Another Green World” to be the first Techno album. My comment is that if techno were more like Another Green World, then I would like it more. Most techno is boring to me.

  • thespacecowboy

Hmmm…had not heard that before, but I can see where they’re coming from.I’m thinking Eno incorporated other elements into his early work that would kind of preclude it from a strict interpretation as “techno”.What’s appealing to me about his earlier electronica work was that it had some rock/pop elements in the songwriting.

cowboy -You are brave. Crimson is some serious music. Definately expert level stuff. They sometimes change time signatures every couple measures.I just saw the original Emmanuel Soft porn flick that was made in ’74. The sound track was uncredited variation on Lark’s Tongues. In Dark Trees and The Big Ship are very techno like. But I see them as segue tracks to transition from “I’ll come running to tie your shoes” to “Little Fishes” and “Golden Hours”. None of which are techno like.Have you ever heard any of the Cluster and Eno tracks? Those are also really good stuff. My favorite from cluster and Eno is a song containing the line “Most of the day, we were at the machinery.” I don’t remember the real title. Broken Heads is another good Cluster & Eno. The last C & E colaboration was call Eno, Mobius, and Rodelius. M&R recorded as Cluster, hence Cluster & Eno.

  • http://emsique.blogspot.com emsique

ceu, there is also the House Judiciary Committee that can move forward on this. Between Obama’s half assed non approach to War Crimes, and the insider gifts to Wall Street and the banking industry, he is beginning to look like just another political hack. I’m not happy with the guy I supported heart and soul right now.

  • http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/bird/flamingo/honolulu/flamingo01.jpg veralynn

Isn’t that great ceu?!But who out there could be the special prosecutor? And what about Jane Harmon (sp?)? If what cq is reporting is correct, she needs to be investigated too.

  • Alex

Ditto on that emsique.Even now I find it pretty ridiculous that the DoJ and other places are still “considering” action. Torture = illegal, plain and simple.

  • ceu

M-seek, whether or not to prosecute really isn’t Obama’s decision. I think that all of us are in the habit of thinking that if the WH isn’t supporting something then the other dept’s, like Justice, would defer to the WH. But….that’s a BushCO mindset.I am truly hoping that Holder is independent, the way an Attorney General should be.

Re: Torturegood article – http://www.truthout.org/042009JStunning Hypocrisy (clearly, The Cornerstone of repub policy) of ‘removing’ Saddam for his human rights abuses, the policies and the players involved…This is something that Obama can’t afford to get Wrong. Change better come, or his new vision for America in his new world is totally myopic.Obama’s lack of action against these hypocrits, liars, crooks and perp’s is a bad sign for America. We need an outside power to investigate and enforce international laws in our country? That in itself is a bad, nasty precedent, and ominous thing, peeps.Yeah he’s talked the talk, his batting average has been pretty good, but folding before the playoffs even begin??The notion that those in a position of power are too powerful to prosecute is a REALLY FUCKED UP notion….That’s a Good Reason to go Teabagging.

Chris -I think you know my position on this from my comments at TPC. I am very much heartened by what I am hearing. Yes, this is Holder’s problem. I think he will do the right thing. We have to get the Senate to confirm the last couple of DoJ appointments that they are drigging their feet on. Holder is no doubt waiting for his Director of OLC to be in place since she (I forgot her name) is considered an expert on this stuff.emsique -We didn’t do too badly. Here’s the whole thing.Genesis – The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway – Broadway Melody of 1974Echoes of the Broadway Everglades,With her mythical madonnas still walking in their shades:Lenny Bruce, declares a truce and plays his other hand.Marshall McLuhan, casual viewin’, head buried in the sand.Sirens on the rooftops wailing, but there’s no ship sailing.Groucho, with his movies trailing, stands alone with his punchline failing.Klu Klux Klan serve hot soul food and the band plays ‘In the Mood’The cheerleader waves her cyanide wand, there’s a smell ofpeach blossom and bitter almonde.Caryl Chessman sniffs the air and leads the parade, he know in a scent, you can bottle all you made. There’s Howard Hughes in blue suede shoes, smiling at the majorettessmoking Winston Cigarettes. And as the song and dance begins, the children play at homewith needles; needles and pins.
