    Hola!

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

Tonight’s first question:Does the ends justify the means?More specifically, may the government ignore laws to keep us safe from whatever figments of imagination we need to be kept safe from?Should the government be allowed to station a squad of soldiers in your living room to keep you safe from raghead zombie illegal immigrant invaders? (It won’t be GItheJoe and friends.)Should these soldiers be allowed to force you to watch FNC and nothing else?Do the wrong wingers understand the constitution? When you start to ignore laws, where and when do you know to stop?If you were going to ignore the law, why was it passed in the first place?Do we really think the constitution should be ignored when it gets in the way of ‘keeping us safe’?What exactly are we being ‘kept safe’ from? Please keep me safe from these oath-breaking lawless fuckwitted Republicans. Please. Pretty please.

Git-Ignoring laws? Here is one from US code title 8 section 1325″(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of factsAny alien who(1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or(2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or(3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.”Napolitano- “And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se.”Git said “When you start to ignore laws, where and when do you know to stop?”That is the Homeland Security leader, not some flunky saying that it is not a crime, when it is, hence ignoring the law.By the way, what the hell is a GIT?

  • http://www.osborneink.com Matt Osborne

RockAndTroll: “Silly Git” is a Monty Python reference.Your failure to recognize it marks you as “not one of the cool kids.”You are now an outcast from our virtual clique. Buh-bye!

  • RockandTroll

Git-”Does the ends justify the means?”That would depend upon your morals and your belief system, in conjunction with the particular set of circumstances surrounding the “ends” and the “means”.Would I break laws to directly protect my kids? Yes, my ethical and moral obligation would be to protect my kids. I would do anything I had to if they were in direct, serious danger from an agressor. The laws would not matter to me, I would accept whatever punishment applied, to do everything possible to save them. So, at least in that case from my perspective, the end would justify the means. Society would perhaps look at it differently from that vantage point.

  • RockandTroll

Matt-”You are now an outcast from our virtual clique. Buh-bye!”You mean I was in before?!! Hell, I wish I would have known…..

  • ceu

The laws would not matter to me, I would accept whatever punishment applied,That’s the difference between you and BushCo – you recognize that the laws exist and there might be consequences to breaking them…

God, I’m getting tired of these Commies blocking Youtube!Who the hell is Rockandtroll and why is he being such a fucking git???Hey Buttlips! Americans have morals and ethics and hold ourselves to a higher standard than bottom feeders like yourself. Piss off!

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

R&T -what is a Git? You are a git.USC 8 § 1325 really bugs you doesn’t it?So how many generations have you lived here you illegal immigrant. The reality is, we are all here illegally since we stole all of this land from its rightful owners. I don’t know what the fuck your problem is with immigrants. When did the U.S. fill up with hateful prick assholes like yourself? I don’t like having to share this place with hateful bigoted scum like you.

  • RockandTroll

CEU-”That’s the difference between you and BushCo – you recognize that the laws exist and there might be consequences to breaking them”so what do you say to my post above when Napolitano et. all is choosing to ignore the law that’s on the books?? The law is the law, correct?

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

The lawless scumbag republicans need to all be arrested and locked up until they learn that the law applies to everyone, not just poor Mexicans.

emsique -Today has been outrageous. One after another Fascist cocksuckers on my TeeVee telling lie after lie after lie.I really, really, really, really want to waterboard Liz Cheney. It’s not torture. She swore up and down that it’s not torture so she couldn’t possible object to me waterboarding her 185 times in the next month (I want the free crazy bread).I had to go drive around and do errands for a while to keep my head from exploding over the total deception vortex the neocon fascists were generating. How are things in the land of the insect leaders?

  • RockandTroll

Git-”The lawless scumbag republicans need to all be arrested and locked up until they learn that the law applies to everyone, not just poor Mexicans”So do you have a reason that Napolitano doesn’t follow the law? After all it was YOUR questions,” More specifically, may the government ignore laws to keep us safe from whatever figments of imagination we need to be kept safe from?”And”If you were going to ignore the law, why was it passed in the first place?”Both your questions.

  • Ady

I don’t know if I can stand to watch the rest of KO tonight. It’s surreal and horrifying. Perhaps ignorance about the torture issue might be a good idea for me.Also WTF? The Republicans defending “torture” don’t deserve to hold elected offices in our government. I mean, they’re saying “torture” never happened while, at the same time, defending the use of and the effectiveness of “torture.” I’m a linear thinker, and this shit makes no sense to me. Feels like my brain is in a blender. Arghhh…

  • emsique

The pro torture swine need to fess up that all they really want is for someone to experience cruel and unusual punishments for crimes. This and this are what were done during the Inquisition to extract confessions of being a witch or a Jew. They always got their confessions. Lotsa witches in those days.Sadism is not an American value.

  • emsique

Git, even though the insect overlords here are blocking video sites, they can be accessed by tedious tricks of the tubes which they try to control by playing whack a mole.We have a new internet server which is faster, so fun movie pirating is funner. If I want to see stupid pro torture swine I have to work at it so I can remain a little more blissfully ignorant about just how disgusting too many of my fellow merkins are.I can get Keith and Rachel OK online here. (delivery confirmation on Callahan)

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

Ady -It’s not just you. They are saying things that are contradictory. I’m sure it’s their designated thinker (DT) from GOPthunk® feeding them all of these lines. If they stop and think about what they are saying, they will lock up and become nonfunctional. For this reason, they do not think, and GOPthunk® does all of their thinking for them. The GOP outsourced its thinking to GOPthunk® an Elbonian think-tank because it was cheaper than thinking for themselves and Elbonia has the cheapest think-tanks. Elbonians think we are still in the middle ages and that Charlemagne is still running things. This works well with the Religious Right base since Elbonians hate abortion since the only abortion method the Elbonians have involves evisceration of the mother. They hate birth control as well since it is the exact same procedure as abortion. This is my latest theory.

I don’t care if it works or not, we are Americans, we don’t do this and anyone who thinks it is EVER justified, go look at the nazi pictures or stalin gulag pictures or the khemer rouge museum for fsm’s sake. once you see this, the only reason you are advocating this now, here is because you think if Americans do it it isn’t torture. We are Americans, we don’t do this

    Agreed.

so what do you say to my post above when Napolitano et. all is choosing to ignore the law that’s on the books?? The law is the law, correct?Correct. However, I’m not discussing Napolitano at the moment & don’t wish to. Why would you respond to my comment by changing the subject? Do you assume we’ll be distracted by shiny objects? And, btw, it’s et al, not et. all.

In particular, human decency completely evades those fascist prick stormtroopers. They don’t seem to realize that their Nazi has been showing all day. And not just a little bit showing. I was surprised that sweet Liz wasn’t wearing a swastika arm band. I was looking for the SS on her collar.

  • Ady

Git, that makes more sense to me than anything I’ve heard all day. Which brings me to my second question…why are the Republicans CONSTANTLY on tee vee defending something they say never really happened? Don’t they have jobs to do? I want them all to just shut up.And RockandTroll loves it when you give “it” lots of love and gentle petting.

  • RockandTroll

Git-”I’m deathly terrified of those illegal immigrants. They threaten my very being. I might be exposed to the deadly espanol”Stop being an ass. You asked the question about the point of having laws, in case you forgot.”When you start to ignore laws, where and when do you know to stop?

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

I’m pointing out that you seem to be freaked out over things that are not very important in the grand scheme of things. In fact, I believe that your intent is to prevent us from discussing the real problem facing this country right now which is that the Republican party is a party of lawless fascist cocksuckers that belong in a federal pound your ass penitentiary.I already answered your question. Napolitano should enforce the laws as she is required to do.If you want to make a big deal out of the fact that she isn’t, by all means, feel free.I reserve the right to point out that your priorities are as fucked up as Republican party ethics.HAVE I TOLD YOU THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE CRIMINALS?

  • ceu

Glenn Greenwald:Amazingly, when it comes to crimes by ordinary Americans, being “tough on crime” is a virtually nonnegotiable prerequisite to being Serious, but when it comes to political officials who commit crimes in the exercise of their power, absolute leniency is the mandated belief upon pain of being dismissed as “shrill” and extremist

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

Note to myself:….Man, I love it when Hypocracy and Contridiction are exposed in the Prime Time. One second, it’s ignore the Rule of Law because it doesn’t fit the agenda, the next it’s “we need to follow it to letter”.One second, it’s trash the Constitution because it’s an outdated pile of words on old parchment, (and was construted by a bunch of womenizing, racist bafoons), and the next it’s “we have to protect it at all costs”.

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

More specifically, may the government ignore laws to keep us safe from whatever figments of imagination we need to be kept safe from?

I think I should explain this more. The full implications of my statement may have gone unnoticed by many. There is much more complexity to the question than is apparent at first glance. The primary function of a government, any government, is to assure domestic tranquility and the mutual defense of its citizens. This is the only reason for the federal government to exist if you are a misinformed republican ideologue since they like to ignore the promote the general welfare part. They mumble when they read that part and then pretend it isn’t there. So a federal government must have an enemy, any enemy, in order to exist. No enemy, no need for federal government. If you are a republican that is.This is not the only reason for having a federal government, but we’ll pretend that the republicans are correct (they are not) for purposes of this essay.Back to MUST HAVE ENEMY. We have to have an enemy, even if we have to invent one. (War on Terror) An enemy that is impossible to defeat and won’t go away is the best. (War on Terror) This enemy is a figment of our imaginations. Imaginary enemies are the best kind. You can emit propaganda at regular intervals (Orange Today) to freak everyone out and this justifies shipping ever increasing amounts of public funds into the Military Industrial Complex to “Keep us Safe.”Meanwhile, the people running this nation-sized scam have set up the NSA to capture every communication considered critical to national security (Such as all of Ted Kennedy’s, Nancy Pelosi’s, and Chris Dodd’s phone calls. You wonder why they behaved like spineless castrati? I don’t.)Their fellow criminals changed laws so that banks could be looted in a similar fashion to the way S&Ls were looted in the 80s. The republicans have used our government as a very large scam for their own enrichment while leaving the the U.S. taxpayers to foot the bill. We did not properly punish the Keating 5, so they did it again. Also we got tricked into an invasion and occupation which was just another way to enrich the MI Complex (Halliburton in particular) at the taxpayer’s expense.I am rather certain that Cheney has a swiss bank acount with a fabulous balance. Those billions that were ‘misplaced’ in Iraq weren’t ‘misplaced’, they were stolen. All this was done to “keep us safe” from our enemies.I think most people’s IFF* gear is broken.Who were these enemies again? It looked to me that they were in the white house.* IFF: Indentify Friend or Foe.

  • Teh Minx

@Emsique– The gifts sound beautiful, especially the chocolate! What’s the price of nice silk loungewear? More reasonable because it’s closer to the source? Can you really get decent chocolate in China?@GItheJoe– it depends on what you were eating. Any “special” brownies from the “Health Food Store”? If so, please let me know where it is. There is much validity to your theory, though. Even though our bodies can use a wide variety of “foods” as fuel, fresh fruits, veggies & non-McCrockDonaldized proteins WILL make you feel better. Are you still off the cigarettes? The patches &/or gum may be giving a bit of a buzz–I have no experience on that end.

  • Titan

“Have I told you that the Republicans are Criminals.”Git, that’s a pretty broad statment, and has no basis in fact. (Because some are criminals, doesn’t mean all are criminals.)It’s also a pretty well known fact that many, many liberal metropolitan areas, along with thier newspaper controlling party machines, are well known for thier “Pay to Play” politics. In fact, Mr. Obama comes from such an area. I’m sure there is a “Treasure Trove” of juicy information that we have yet to learn about him.I’m also convinced that some others in the Democratic Party arn’t much better. Some, even ignored a serious sub-prime mortgage meltdown until it melted down the entire country. Much of the “blind eye” in the matter, was an attempted cover for thier large political donors. Yet, it certainly hurt the middle class, and the poor, to the point where some of these elected individuals should be sitting in the Federal prison you speak about.Trust me, there’s enough People living in glass houses, that there should be any stone throwing.

  • ceu

Well, shit. If everyone’s doing it, that makes it all ok!

I’ll narrow my target list even though I am certain that the world would be better if all republican politicians were dropped into a singularity and converted into gamma rays.I want all republican spokespeople that polluted my TV today with their outrageous lies to be placed in a nice secluded retreat such as Danbury FCI for about five years or until they learn how to talk without lying.I’ve officially overdosed on lying sacks of shit that call themselves republican Americans. I haven’t seen such behavior since the last time the history channel was showing Nazis.

Obviously, there are some among us who do not…now piss off, k?

  • Ady

Jon Stewart is on now to make sense out of my world again. Yippee! Also I think the shoddy reporting of the “torture issue” by the MSM is due in large part to the fact that this is yet ANOTHER example of the way the media has failed in a BIG way. Obviously, the first epic failure of the MSM was during the run-up to the Iraq War…damn, what next?

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

All these republicans that claim they think waterboarding is OK should be waterboarded. Since they don’t think that it is torture, they can do each other. We’ll just watch.Waterboarding is torture and is illegal. All five JAGs of our armed services have said so. I’ll take their word over the word of Dickless Cheney and his demented daughter (Criminal scum).

  • http://www.xkcd.com/ • Silly Ratfaced Git •

Ady -The MSM is a propaganda machine for the corporatists. This will not change anytime soon. You will have to rely on the WWW for real news. I’m not sure how long that will be safe. The real enemy (the corporatists) has seen their mistake (allowing the internet to be place of individual publication, thus making anyone a potential pamphleteer). They haven’t figured out how to put the toothpaste back into the tube but they are working on it.They thought in terms of old media. You buy it up, have editorial control, and control the information flow. WWW and blogs in particular has broken their control of the info flow. They are working to regain control. Keep your eyes on the Network Neutrality debate. It could get ugly. If the corporatists win that, we are boned.

  • Ady

I agree,Git. Also I’d venture to guess, that folks in favor of “torture” far outnumber those in opposition to it making the rounds on ALL the cable news networks, and that really bothers me too.

I’ve written a description of why Net Neutrality is important as an essay. I’m not done with it. It’s something I’ve been working on off and on since last sept. I’ve already promised it to a blog in Canada. I’m considering starting a blog. I’ve been thinking about it since beginning of March.Anyway, packet switching hardware that is used to adjust Quality of Service (QoS) can also be easily programmed as a censorship device. There is no real difference from a technical point of view. In QoS application you reduce the badwidth used by a connection by tossing away some percentage of packets. In censorship mode you toss them all away. Same machine. No Difference.Net Neutrality is vital to freedom of speech.Censorship is the hidden agenda of the folks opposed to net neutrality. You will never hear them say that of course. Only technogeeks like myself are aware of this. This is the other reason I hide my real identity. Sometimes telling the truth effects your ability to have a job.

Just came back from blogging. Thanks to all of you who read “The Torture of Rush Limbaugh,” esp. Git and Ady.Sad news: before I left for work today, I found the Vince Foster smear morphing into a grand new Obama smear. Details are in my blog.Git, the corporate campaign against Net Neutrality always struck me as racketeering against the customers they already have. Am I not determining the bandwidth when I buy it? Why should the content provider have to pay when I’ve already paid for the right to access that content at high-speed? So what’s the use of high-speed internet to me if the cable company is just going to decide what content I should watch at high speed?

  • allincompassing

Sorry I got here late Git, but thanks for your humanity. It seems MSM has forgotten the core emphasis of what makes a civilized world. Civilized societies do not torture, nor do we cannabilize our enemies it’s inhuman and their are many historical atrocities that have formed our opinions.Just imagine for a moment…..what if these Al Queda members had nothing to do with 9-11, would we even think to question the legality of torture?Look I’ve been in the building supply and public safety industries for the last 30 years. I’ve sold the materials used in demolition. The WTC collapse had nothing to do with any damn airplane, two weeks ago, one of the foremost scientist in the world confirmed that Nano-Thermites were used to destroy those buildings.Nobody in MSM bothered to give this story the true effort it deserved. Look it up people, this guy is not a quack like Alex Jones. He is and will always be the real deal.Re-opening any Bush investigation is tantamount to opening pandora’s box. I’m not sure that as a nation we could really handle the truth if it came out.Well, I’ve said my piece, I respect that each of you is entitled to express your views. Thanks again Bob for your latest column. It’s probably more ethical morality than most are willing to acknowledge. At the very least you tried.Peace

It’s all about controlling the flow of information. Everything else is just BS to cover up their real intent. They had total control over our information. They concentrated the news media into the hands of four corporations that basically controlled everything we see and hear. The same media cartel bought all (really nearly all) of the newspapers and have editorial control there. The control freaks have been controlling our information flow since the late 70s. They did not understand the internet so it passed under their radar unmolested. They demand full control over our information again. We are supposed to be loyal plastic consumers. When they want our opinions they will give them to us.The crap they are selling as Quality of Service and such is code for censorship. “We are the publishers, You are the consumers.”When you have free speech, people like Obama can get elected. We can’t have anymore of that. Our voting machines can’t be trusted. I am certain that Obama margin of victory was much larger than we were led to believe. To many people vote on touchscreen voting machines. Those machines scare the shit of of people like me that build similar type systems. They can be programmed to give what ever result you want and there is absolutely no way to know that anything is wrong. There is so much going on that most Americans just don’t know about. The media cartel has suppressed all stories about the voting machines. It’s very scary to watch this shit happening right in front of everyone’s nose because the news media is controlled by the same people that forced this intentionally untrustworthy election technology down our throats.

allincompassing,Seriously? You believe the towers were destroyed with nontechnology? That the airplanes flying into the buildings were…what? Holograms?

Matt -I have never been happy with the NIST analysis of the failure and collapse. By most accounts from structural engineers that know what they are talking about, it is highly unlikely (not impossilbe, but unlikely) that the aircraft alone could have brought about the massive cascade failure that we saw.The aircrafts struck the buildings. The buildings should not have collapsed.Note that I am on the fence on WTC1 and WTC2. I have not been adequately convinced on either explanation. On WTC7 there is no doubt that it was a planned for demolition. No other explanation is credible. When you reach that conclusion on WTC7, then the nanothermite explanation for WTC1 and WTC2 becomes much more plausible since that also requires a conspiracy.I would also point out that a real enemy of the U.S. would have targeted strategic targets like the GWashington Bridge, Tappan Zee Bridge, and the Newburgh Bridge. Removing those three bridges simultaneously would devastate the U.S. economy by isolating New England. It would take many months to recover from such a blow. The WTC ‘pearl harbor’ didn’t effect the economy very much if at all.I am convinced that WTC7 was the real target, everything else was a distraction. Check out who had offices in WTC7. If you do that will give you ideas as to who might have liked to see paper records disappear.I am not happy with appearing to support conspiracy theorists. However, the the puzzle fits together better one way than another, I have to conclude that there is something to the conspiracy theory. The cover story was pretty poor at best, and many behaviors of authority made no sense unless you assume that a cover up was in progress. Why were no structural engineers allowed to inspect the steel before it was rushed off to china? Over a dozen specifically are on recored as having begged for permission to do such an inspection and all were denied. No structural engineers ever inspected the steel, but we have a thorough explanation of the collapse based on zero data gathered from the site. When NIST was tasked with doing the analysis, the steel was already on a slow boat to China. There are far too many unanswered questions for my comfort.
