Um… Chris Matthews is kinda wrong here. I know it seems like some sort of disloyalty to leave the party, but what about the fact that the republicans left the party? Why can’t Specter say he signed on to serve the people, and not the party? If the bulk of your constituency switches parties – doesn’t it make sense to feel out where they are and serve THEM, rather than the party?I know we have a bunch of partisans here – Bob and Elvis are Democratic party folk… so help me understand this.
