    I think what frustrates me even more is a report like yesterday’s that says the media is in the tank with positive stories about the President.I don’t know about you, but this president has been scrutinized more than any President I can recall other than possibly, Carter.I guess when you report the facts nuetrally, you chalk that up as positive reporting. To me it’s a double standard.

Am loathe to trade my wheels in, but the car has transmission issues that make me start the car in neutral & force me to park on a completely level surface so it doesn’t roll away!

    I like what I’ve seen of Joe – particularly during the last stages of the campaign, but I couldn’t help laughing out loud today when CBC mentioned the Biden ‘gaffe’! Just yesterday the blogs were patting him on the back for his progress, so then he goes and messes things up. He did seem to go on and on in the piece they played, while I kept muttering ‘Okay. Okay! Stop now!’ Ah, Joe, I wonder if you can learn to be pithy, if you won’t learn to think before you speak? I wonder if Jill ever takes him to task on this issue.By the way, doesn’t he have a speech writer?

    Hi MinxI live in a community that is predominately ex-pats. Other than the affordable ocean living, the big draw for me is the Mexican people.The medium-size cities have all the big box stores….. Cosco, Walmart, Sams, etc., etc., plus some pretty decent international competition.The City of Hermosillo has the CIMA hospital with care as good as, if not better than, the U.S. The care falls off in the smaller cities, so Rescate provides a fast ride to town. The cost is about 1/3 of the U.S. Same with dental.Hope this helps. I stand ready to respond to any other questions you may have.Fishing is fair and getting better as the water warms.

You say that you live in an ex-pat area but like local folks, so I’m thinking that you have local friends. Is there a culture gap? I know that speaking spanish isn’t completely necessary, but do you think that it’s helpful?Do you have favorite local artists/musicians? How about a favorite restaurant/hang-out?     MinxI speak Spanish fairly well and this doubles my enjoyment, especially when traveling South to the incredible colonial cities…Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Pautzcuaro, San Miguel de Allende, etc. Great history, pre-history, arts, restaurants. The highways are excellent.My area, like almost all beach/tourist areas, is quite prosperous. It is growing too fast in my opinion. But I will never leave.There is a lot of info on Sonora online but asking a local can be pretty informative. Hope this helps.

    Hielo! Thanks for the info!Re: The Supreme Court– I’m hoping for another woman to be appointed. Not sure how much longer Ruth Bader Ginsburg will hold on. The overmajority of men is why the Jr. High School strip search of that young girl was held as lawful. What a bunch of crap! NO Woman would buy into the “it’s no worse than changing for gym” argument.     hielo -Arlen Specter is a moderate Republican who now is a Democrat. He is not really a Bayh, but he is in that ballpark because he is conservative. He is on the right side of women’s issues, or at least most of them. He pays very close attention to what his constituents want.All things considered, he’s been a good senator for PA.He is a well educated and well trained J.D. His interpretation of the Second Amendment is legally sound IMO.I differ from most liberals in that I am not a rabid gun control advocate. I don’t understand an assault weapon ban when so few crimes are committed with them. A larger impact on gun crime would be made by cracking down on handguns which are easy to conceal. It’s hard to walk down the street with an AK47 and not be noticed.In CT, a young man walked into a Duchess Restaurant and killed his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend with a .45 Colt Automatic pistol. Shortly afterward the CT State Legislature used this incident as an excuse to ban assault rifles in CT. You could still buy .45 Colt Automatic pistols though.Assault Rifles are the state of the art in rifles. Banning them is like banning sports cars. Sorry, you don’t NEED the latest tech. Have a muzzle-loader instead.If we start banning every thing people don’t need, its going to be a chickenshit nanny state that only Percy Milquetoast will enjoy living in.I’m all in favor of gun trafficing laws that make it harder for the wrong people to get guns. I disagree with many NRA positions because I think it is too easy to get a gun. It should not be easy to get a gun. You should have to jump through hoops.

    My observation of the wrong wing is that Justices that properly interpret the constitution are called liberal.In my mind they are simply correct.The constitution is designed to prevent an authoritarian state. These constraints apparently get it the way of what the wrong wing wants. The really do want an Authoritarian Fascist System. They want to be able to impose their beliefs on everyone.You will attend a protestant church this Sunday and you will like it.They just don’t Grok freedom. It’s scary. People can run around thinking whatever they want. If we allow this we’ll have people dressing like Pirates and praying to Flying Spaghetti Monsters.They can’t deal with this. They want everything orderly and predictable.
