for the last several days, I’ve been wondering why google put up an ad for a video game which appears to solely revolve around shooting people in the testicles. Then I realized: we’ve been discussing teabagging.In retrospect, I cannot believe it took me this long.

Obama is now untouchable as a result of his handling of the Somali pirate/ American hostage situation. I questioned whether he was in control and was overwhelmed by the circumstance but after the fact I learned that Obama was constantly debriefed as events were unfolding, he deliberately avoided press conferences so as to not inflame the stand off, and allowed negotiations, which if it worked would have avoided death,and also allowed the Navy to position themselves in the best possible situation to rescue the hostage.

Is this thing on?

It is every citizen’s responsibility to pay taxes.

What is the next step? A tea bag party today, tomorrow a protest against against taxes on ammunition?

I attended about a half dozen antiwar rallies during the Bush years, and the largest was maybe 5,000 people. The fact that in 600 towns and cities so many teabaggers came out on one day is disconcerting. If each location had an average of 1,000 people. That’s a 600,000 people! Let’s hope this is a flash, and passes. Given the worried tone I just heard among the hosts and guest, I’m guessing they feel the same way I do — it aint a passing fad with these people.

can anyone else see that the lack of education is contributing to any of this? I am not that old, but I remember when we were taught facts there were apolitical. Facts were facts, no spin. Veralynn,I think what the racists with guns really fear is the evil inherent in their (and everyone’s) psyche. You’re right that education exposes and counters this fear. These people will recognize themselves and their fear in a psychology class or in a novel like Heart of Darkness.Instead of dealing with their own heart of darkness, right-wingers project it onto a group that is somehow different. I’m amazed at how often and how universally that group becomes “those whose skin is darker than mine.”
