About this topic of fear…I would argue that people don’t want to know.I had a discussion about this today actually regarding vegetarianism. I think a lot more people would be vegetarians if they knew exactly what their food went through before it ended up on their plate. When I told my stepmom that I was becoming a veggie, and the reasons, she just shuddered and told me to stop, because she didn’t want to know.And I think that is the same mindset that some Americans have about the war and torture. They don’t want to know about how awful it is. They don’t want to know about how awful our government is and what tactics in which it engages. So when things arise that make them uncomfortable, they ignore it. And pretend it doesn’t happen.
