Thanks, Governor Perry

Nate Silver:

If Texas were not in the Union, the Democrats would currently have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate — or at least they would once Al Franken gets seated. This is because, in a 98-seat Senate, only 59 votes would be required to break a filibuster.

What are you waiting for? Secede already, tough guy.

So… that’s the reason for not seceding? What difference does it make if they’re no longer a part of the country? What would they care if there were a filibuster proof majority in a country they were no longer a part of?What an insufferable douche. All this after backing away from the secession talk when the heat’s on.

You know, I think Obama’s love of all things Lincoln is great, but I don’t think that Perry et al need to take it to this extreme.

Please leave now. The sooner you secede, the sooner we can stop subsidizing your asses. Let’s see how you deal with on third of your state’s budget disappearing overnight. Good luck with that.

Perry — who is a male version of Palin in many regards — has national aspirations. He actually thinks the country would elect another governor from Texas to be president. Not in our lifetimes.Fortunately his talk of secession has probably ruined all chance of running for prez.
