Wingnut Twitter Fail

The “Top Conservatives on Twitter” (aka. #tcot) group appears to be throwing in the towel because the two guys who started it are now feuding.

Meanwhile, Drudge is claiming he was the first person Sarah Palin chose to follow. In the real world, however, Drudge was 17th on Palin’s follow list.

As for me, I’m happy to not deal with Twitter at all.

I too am happy to not deal with Twitter at all. Its ridiculous popularity discredits its genuiness to me.btw Ed Shultz is kicking mega ass tonight.

twitter has always sounded like it would be very annoying and usless. maybe it is:SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Twitter quitters outnumber the flock of habitual tweeters on the rapidly growing online communications service, a new study suggests. Most people aren’t joining the Web site’s jumble of conversations for very long. More than 60 percent of Twitter’s U.S. users don’t return a month later, based on an analysis of traffic trends unveiled this week by the research firm Nielsen Online.

J M -Ed is getting his act together. He has been growing into this show. I think he has been constantly improving.

Its possible Ed could give Keith a run for the money in wingnutt asskickery. Or maybe they can just form a dynamic duo of GOP-Evisceration.

You’ve made the right decision, Mr. Cesca. I applaud you. That Twitter place sounds like a damned cesspool of the affected. Oh, and old fogies trying to be hip.

Unlike Steven Colbert, I have never Twatted… and I don’t intend to.My life has enough distractions as it is.

    Twatted? hahaCareful with that word

Twitter is for bored celebrities and teenage girls. I don’t care to know that someone just took a dump!

Hell I don’t even do the cell phone messaging crap let alone Twitter. I just love when people (cough – Meghan McCain) cry that “ohh so and so is following me on Twitter”. Well the easy fix is to just not use Twitter. Duh!!!

    I have a twat, but I don’t intend to twat….

Kinda bummed to see the resistance to Twitter, it’s going to be the next big tool in campaigns, it’ll need smart, savvy people to balance out the neocons who are bound to take over come 2010. I was resistant at first as well, but after using it, I’ve come to see its value. Embrace Twitter!

I’m growing into Twitter, and because I can control my stream, it is always useful to me. I don’t mind sifting through the useless for the useful.I also find the comment about people not coming back for a month odd. Do they mean people don’t come back or don’t contribute? Anyway, I’ve said all I will on the subject – don’t want Bob to kick me out!QT

It’s the Teabag Terror: the process by which the Grand Old Party, having whittled itself down to white people with offensive signs, watches those white people with offensive signs turn on each other.

LOL The #tcot feud is a hoot in real time. You folks baggin on Twitter don’t get it, since all your guessing and descriptions of what you think it’s about… is way off base. You should stay away… very very far away. It’s way too addictive.

I’ve tried Twitter. But I find I just don’t have the need to update the world every time I make a bowl movement.

Don’t Twitter! Never will!Completely useless waste of time and 140 characters, IMO.How can “we” be that self-absorbed to think someone CARES what “we” do every two minutes???!!!Don’t get that!As it is, you can search Twitter and see all the mindless, unimportant comments being made by narcissists far and wide. The art of writing has been lost. That’s why I like reading here and HuffPo. Bob and others actually write in meaningful paragraphs.There. I feel better now that I’ve “shared.” (Women don’t “complain.” We “share”! !

Queen,I appreciated your comment. When you get to my age, controlling one’s stream is very important!

  • http://www.windonwater.net QueenTiye

LOL! That’s funny, Wolfe Tone. :) OK, but now I just wrote another defense of Twitter in another context, so I’ll quote it here…~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~think Twitter gets its bad rep because people consider it “micro-blogging” on the one hand, or “community” on the other. In fact, my experience shows it’s really neither – it’s more like a combination of a watercooler conversation and news ticker. Random stuff flies by, some of it interesting, some of it stuff you’ve contributed, and some of it stuff you’ll say something about to the person nearest you. Useful? Yeah, so long as you’re not looking for long meaningful exchanges. You just keep it going in the background, when you’ve got something to say you say it, and you keep on moving on.- twittering is good for both of you, as yet another communications channel. Book coming out? Tweet it, with a url to your web site giving more in-depth details to those who want more. Some might not need or care about all the stuff you put on the web site – knowing you’ve got a book out is enough to make them go to their amazon or local book store and grab the book. same with tweets out to students – “Don’t forget; test today” is way shorter than 140 characters… and is useful info for a professor to pass along. If you think of it as the kind of chatter you pass along when you pass someone in the hallway, you’ll keep to the 140 characters, and be passing along information that’s useful to those who are following you. Likewise, you’ll gain just that kind of quick (sometimes gossipy) info. The guy who asked the states secrets question, Mark Knoller from CBS radio, during President Obama’s press conference this week, is a great tweeter – he passes along real time news about what’s up with the Obama administration in little tweets – they come in bursts – 5 at a time, and then silence, but it’s really good intel if you care about that. If you’re experimenting with Twitter, I’ll recommend him as an example of some of what Twitter can be: http://twitter.com/markknoller.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You can visit Mark Knoller’s twitter page even if you’re not twittering – its another good source of info.QT

For people who think Twitter is about broadcasting your lunch or bowel movements… honestly… is that your regular casual group conversation?

  • http://wwww.twitter.com/bphoon bphoon

I thought much the same about Twitter, et al, for a long time until I tried it. Started out as a good way to follow folks such as Jason Linkins and Ana Marie Cox, for example. From that, I started getting exposed to progressive political organizer types and have found a whole community of like-minded people across the country who use the service as an organizing and “call to action” tool. These kinds of services are a part of what put Barack Obama in the White House, after all. We can always use the thoughts, input and feedback of smart, engaged people who care about the course our country is taking and want a hand in influencing that. The forum is open to all. Otherwise, use it for how ever long or for whatever purpose you like. Use it or don’t; nobody else much gives a damn. However, I’d advise that, before you slam it based on some stereotype that isn’t necessarily valid, you give it a try.
