Cheney Still Lying About Terrorism

Dick Cheney attempting to emphasize the number of terrorist attacks under Bill Clinton, as compared to his own administration:

In 1993, terrorists bombed the World Trade Center, hoping to bring down the towers with a blast from below. The attacks continued in 1995, with the bombing of U.S. facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; the killing of servicemen at Khobar Towers in 1996; the attack on our embassies in East Africa in 1998; the murder of American sailors on the USS Cole in 2000; and then the hijackings of 9/11, and all the grief and loss we suffered on that day. [...]

The first attack on the World Trade Center was treated as a law enforcement problem, with everything handled after the fact – crime scene, arrests, indictments, convictions, prison sentences, case closed.

So, according to Dick Cheney, we had one attack on American soil on Clinton’s watch in 1993, which was treated as a law enforcement problem, and several terrorist attacks abroad.

And then, according to Dick Cheney, one attack on American soil on Bush-Cheney’s watch in 2001. Instead of Clinton’s “law enforcement problem,” Cheney used invasions and torture and other crimes. And since then, how many attacks on Cheney’s watch here and abroad?

Almost too many to count (tens of thousands according to this far-right blog).

How many American soldiers and Iraqi civilians have been killed by terrorists in Iraq? And Afghanistan? How many people were killed in Madrid and London? What about the anthrax attacks on our soil? How many people were killed by the DC Snipers? (Sixteen, by the way. More than were killed in the 1993 WTC bombing. And it happened within short driving distance of Cheney’s underground cryogenic chamber.)

Yeah, Dick Cheney had a hell of a way of fighting a so-called war on terror. Heckuva!

(I wrote a whole chapter about this in my book.)

We all knew that Cheney was going to omit factual information from his speech and once again try to make democrats look weak. Criminals lie. That’s what Cheney is.Cheney is a very frightened old man. 9/11 scared the crap out of him (as it did everyone) and he’s now scared that he’s looking at a possible prison sentence due to his abuse of power.

Obama OKs nuclear deal with United Arab EmiratesMay. 21, 2009Associated Press , THE JERUSALEM POSTStoryPresident Barack Obama agreed Wednesday to share US nuclear power technology with the oil-rich United Arab Emirates, giving his consent to a deal signed in the final days of George W. Bush’s administration. The pact now goes to Congress, which will have 90 days to amend or reject it.The agreement creates a legal framework for the US to transfer sensitive nuclear items to the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven Middle Eastern states that wants nuclear power to satisfy growing demand for electricity.Although flush with oil, the emirates imports 60 percent of the natural gas they use to generate electricity. The United Arab Emerates wants to break its dependence on outside sources for its energy needs and settled on nuclear power as the best option.

I meant to yank excerpts from the whole speech and comment on same.I could not make it through the whole thing. In fact, I’m going over to the hospital right now to have a chunk of pencil removed from my leg. I stabbed myself in sheer frustration.I leave the half finished bitch for what it’s worth, and with the sincere wish that folks get over whatever hesitations or objections they have to trying this rotten cunt as a war criminal (with apologies to rotten cunts for the comparison).Suck My Dick Cheney

One specific excerpt and comment before I go:

“I might add that people who consistently distort the truth in this way are in no position to lecture anyone about values. Intelligence officers of the United States were not trying to rough up some terrorists simply to avenge the dead of 9/11. We know the difference in this country between justice and vengeance.

Holy Fucking Giant Shit Monkeys!“People who distort the truth…are in no position to lecture anyone about values.”Un-fucking-believable.It’s like being lectured on the evils of drink by Charles Bukowski, or Jeffrey Dahmer advocating the vegan lifestyle.

You got to admire Cheney. He is telling the world he tortured and would do it again if given the chance. He is also telling the country that he knows nobody has the balls to do anything about it.

  • thespacecowboy

It’s always been my humble opinion 9/11 should have been handled under “law enforcement”.Sure the military could have been involved as the enforcers, but to use them for a “war against terror” was just asinine.Plus, what have they (Bush/Cheney) really prevented?

I was out mowing lawns for pocket money when I heard a clip of Cheney’s speech on NPR. Every word in the clip was a lie, including “the” and “and.”

Lawrence O’Donnell’s head exploded on teevee.Obvious Cheney was effective, not unlike light rays upon a vampire*.*See cousinavi.

You forgot Oklahoma, McVeigh & his only co-conspirator who sits in prison for the rest of his life. Under Clinton with our standing laws, more “terrorists” were captured & prosecuted & convicted. We didn’t have to suspend habeas corpus, no one’s right’s under our Constitution were violated. The best is no one was tortured. It is about time Cheney was read his Miranda Rights.

Remember the anger explosions over any criticism of a sitting PRESIDENT while the Cheney criminals were in charge? Cheney was chief cheerleader for decrying the dishonorable Americans who would dare to criticize a president while we are at war.The repubs and the radio corporate giants tried to destroy the Dixie Chicks.

@ LyleYou’re right. Cheney IS saying that.I mean…folks…He takes responsibility for having people waterboarded while being held without any right to habeous corpus.I think it’s time America, in the person of President Obama, stood up and said, “Let the chips fall where they may. No man, no administration, no country shall stand outside the law on such a fundamental principle – the very bedrock foundation – of civilized people and states.”It is not enough to move forward with even a sincere pledge “Never again.”If the world should burn on this question alone, it needs only a spark and deserves the flame. If those who have the power to make the law – who consider themselves just – may act as they please on the point that no one is strong enough to call them to account; if they will not hold themselves to account, I would willingly strike the match.

This isn’t a speech, it’s a plea…a castigation of those who would rebuke him.Cheney is wrapping up all of the full legal defenses available to him in one very public confession. He cannot say he was not there. We have witnesses. But he touches the following:1. I didn’t do it.2. It was the right thing to do.3. It was wrong, but I held the honest but mistaken belief that it was right.4. It was wrong and I knew it was wrong, but there were exigent circumstances.5. Fuck you. They’re evil. I’d do it again. (Jury nullification)This entire speech is a host defenses in want of a trial. What seems most telling to me is that Cheney has not been arrested or charged. If he and his gang of shit-for-brains Republicans would shut the fuck up, the thing might have well faded into the “forward looking” rear view mirror. But the sonuvabitch will not stop telling us how correct it was for him to do everything he did. How he did nothing wrong. It’s like when you walk in the door and your kid says, “I didn’t do it.”

“…And since then, how many attacks on Cheney’s watch here and abroad?”….How about -How many terrorists who were involved with the 9/11 attacks -or any other attacks against America or it’s allies- have faced arrests, indictments, convictions, prison sentences under The Big Dick’s watch??–I guess that depends on how you (he) define (s) “Terrorist”.What a fucking ass-hole.

Nobody EVER remembers the attacks on the US consultate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 2004 and the shootings and kidnappings of American citizens in Riyadh the same year, culminating in the beheading of Paul Johnson.Bush and Cheney protected us? Hardly.
