Excellent Strategy, Boys

The Republicans continue to dig their own political graves. Yglesias informs us:

Michael Goldfarb of The Weekly Standard and Stuart Taylor of National Journal are genuinely engaged in an Ahab-like quest to smoke out examples of the “preferential treatment” of which Sotomayor has been such a beneficiary.

Atta boy, Republicans! You’re doing great!

SHHH! Don’t tell the Republicans about this, either.

They will never see that assuming any minority that does as brilliantly in life as Sotomayor has only did well because of affirmative action is about as racist as it gets.If affirmative action works so magically to promote unqualified minorities why aren’t all minorities (and women) CEO’s, judges, doctors, etc.?I hope someone can do a study of the preferential treatment that Goldfarb and Taylor have received in their life.

They’re really fighting the tide of history, aren’t they? But to people who actually believe in Revelations and the End Times, it makes perfect sense to be this way.

They get all bent out of shape about stellar achievers such as Obama and Sotomayor but have no problem with under achievers such as W. and McCain who got to take up a seat that could have gone to someone more deserving because Daddy could pull strings. Rich family string pulling can’t work as well with all of this affirmative action mucking things up. We demand that only the children of the privileged elite have any opportunities. The rest of you common scum can go to community colleges.Their obnoxious elitist misogynist attitudes shine through very clearly don’t they?

One may start to get the idea that the GOP actually does not want to win elections anymore.
