Lying Liars and Scarborough Show Prep

Both Newt Gingrich and John Boehner have been forced to admit that the CIA has lied to Congress.

First, John Boehner:

So I assume Joe Scarborough will insist that Pete Hoekstra, Gingrich and Boehner are all slandering the veracity of the brave men and women of the CIA, as Scarborough has been claiming about Speaker Pelosi for the last two weeks. And I assume Scarborough will spend the next two weeks (provided he actually shows up for his own show) ripping into all three Republicans for their comments against the CIA.

    What do Republicans do when someone from the CIA–specifically, the director–has been caught and convicted of lying to Congress and years later, describes his conviction (he entered a plea of “no contest”) as “one of the hazards of working for the agency”?

    They give him the National Security Medal, of course.

    I’ve often felt the correct answer to many of these right wing talking points is “Who cares?!”Pelosi lied to us…Who cares?! Prioritize for God’s sake! Bush and Cheney tortured people. Screw Pelosi, she’s small potatoes.Torture works…Who cares?! It’s still a crime. Shooting Jay walkers works too, but it’s against the law.Global warming is a hoax….Who cares?! The things we would do to prevent or minimize global warming are all things we need to be doing anyway. Use less oil, minimize pollution, look for green fuels, Etc.And the list goes on…

    If Gingrich was in the CIA he “…would have very little confidence that the Speaker of the House had any regard for what we’re trying to do to stop terrorism”.As opposed to, say, the former Vice President, who exposed an agent working to keep WMD out of the hands of terrorists for political revenge.Yeah, I can see where accusing an institution of doing something it has a track record of doing is waaaay worse than that.
