But I’ve seen no indication that the Obama Admin. is being unreasonable about anything. If anything, they are constantly reasonable and it often takes the rest of the country a month to figure out “oh hey, what was a good move.”I suppose for some people who are just now waking up to how much the world got fucked in the ass by BushCo., it will take them some time to heal.

And by permanent, I mean, with trials to determine of there is just cause (the courts have said just cause has to be that a person was actually a member of, and not just a helper of Al Quaida), and with periodic review – presumably to determine if the person is still dangerous.I honestly have no problem with this. If we know they are training in terror cells, do we have to wait till they blow themselves up to act? Isn’t training in a terror cell crime enough?QT

I was taken aback by Rachel’s show tonight. I understand her concern, but what many people don’t take into consideration is how difficult this situation is. The fact of the matter is, there shouldn’t have been a Gitmo, and now 8 years later we have to figure out what to do. Not only does it have to be closed, but now you have to figure what to do with them in terms of the courts. Some people at Gitmo are legitimate threats, some are not. And that adds to the problem in figuring out who is and is not a threat.I’m fine with military tribunals as long as these people are given the rights that Obama had stated and which they didn’t have under Bush. Military tribunals are not new, they aren’t some evil thing the Bush created (although he abused it). This issue, as much as we may want it to, is not going to be solved in a week. I would rather him careful and thoroughly handle this situation than be carelessI don’t agree with every decision he makes, but what I like and respect is that he explains his reasoning in an intelligent matter that will allow me to understand why he came to such a decision. For him it’s not about ideology. That is what Bush/Cheney did and that his what we disliked about them the most.Part of the problem is that there is too much emphasis on whether he is a liberal or satisfying his base or even just like Bush, that some people just don’t LISTEN to some of the things he says or has said about certain issues, so when a particular issue like DADT, military tribunals, or states secrets is brought to the table, people such as Maddow get mad because he didn’t do or say what they expected or in a timely matter. They are shocked that he took a certain position, when that was his position all along, whether now or in the Senate.
