Where can I find a Charles Krauthammer Halloween mask?

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl™

Hey! The “Goddamn” is back? It was gone at home and it’s back on my laptop at work. Is that an old cookie thing or did you change your mind, Bob?

  • http://www.thenewwearsoff.com ǝlʎʞ

It’s your cache. Save it and send it to me, Carl! I was asking Bob for a copy of that graphic earlier. Yes, I’m a digital pack rat.

  • http://www.osborneink.com Matt Osborne

    Mmm…cookies!

  • Goddamn Kat

My Goddamn logo is gone and replaced by the goddamn kid-friendly version. Goddamn it! Treasure these last few precious goddamn moments while they last, Carl!(Yes, I am on a goddamn mission to say “goddamn” as much as possible while commenting now. Goddamn!)

  • http://www.thenewwearsoff.com ǝlʎʞ

I’m totally going to use some CSS hackery to force Bob’s blog to show me the old goddamn logo, if Carl will save it for me (hint, hint, wink, wink).

  • GItheJOE

Bob,For the love of FSM, please put the “GODDAMN” back. It is your signature. We loyal atheists/agnostics/deists/pastafarians really loved your attack on the fake god.Do you need more “Paypal” food to keep the “GODDAMN” on the blog?

  • ElMystico

Did you know Sonia Sotomayor has gender and ethnicity? Good thing to. I’m so sick of this Goddamn hermaphrodite court!

  • ßißiɱiɱi

HEY BOB!When i cross-post 2 f’book, the thumbnail still sez ‘goddamn’.i just heard nelson muntz.

  • Erin

Nothing makes racists like Pat Buchanan happier than days like this when they get to accuse someone else of being the racist. Right, Pat.

  • Goddamn Kat

    Shouldn’t it be “GIthe2LT” now?

  • GItheSIR

    Kat,Thank you.And Bob, thank you.

    Two things.

    1. Another renaming suggestion:
Bob Cesca’s Goddamn Christ-fucking Muhammad-drawing Vishnu-raping Awesome Blog! Fuck! Go!

    2. Just throwing this out there.

  • http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/bird/flamingo/honolulu/flamingo01.jpg veralynn, goddammit

It will always be goddamn awesome, even if it isn’t the name anymore. :(

  • ElGoddamnMystico

Erin, Tom Tancredo was on the Ed Show earlier. He was going nuts accusing Sotomayor of racism. He loves the chance to accuse other people of it, while spending most of his time and effort hating brown people. Good ol’ Tom. Glad he was my congressman.

  • Ady

Pat Buchanan keeps insisting that Obama’s SC nominee is somehow totally ignorant. That’s SO hilarious…Pat weighing in on somebody eles’s intellectual capacity when his has been in a diminished state since 1955, is totally stupid. .

  • http://www.thenewwearsoff.com ǝlʎʞ uɯɐppoƃ

If Sotomayor was good enough for Jesse Helms, then she’s good enough for me, goddamn it.

  • ceu

I think he’s still a bit pissed about Bork…fuck ‘em

  • Ady

Probably so, ceu. “Somebody please make the screeching old man on the tee vee go away…please?” Oh look! The remote control, and just in time too.

  • ceu

When my youngest was just learning how to speak, his favorite person on the teevee machine was Happy Cannon “cuz he yells a lot!”

  • http://broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Goddamn Carl

Kyle, where do I send you the goddamn defunct logo?

  • http://www.thenewwearsoff.com ǝlʎʞ uɯɐppoƃ

Already got it. Thanks though, Carl.

Here it is if anyone else may want it.

  • Goddamn Kat

So is the consensus that Mr. Cesca is a total goddamn sell-out, but that we’re so addicted to this goddamn place, we’ll keep coming back anyway?(Goddamn love you – mean it – Bob!)

  • it’s goddamn gypsy fucking bitches

this goddamn place has went down the goddamn hill. ;) still like bob, but bad call on dropping the goddamn goddammit.

  • Ady

OMG,ceu, Pat Buchanan’s constant screeching at the top of his lungs drives me nuts. (Not a long trip, but still). I grew up listening to Buchanan b/c my mother loves him, but now I just want to slap his face so hard that his dentures fly outta his big, screechy mouth.

  • jmy

Can someone explain to me what “liberal enough” is suppose to mean? There is this consensus by some people that Sotomayor is not “liberal enough.” Keith just asked Gibbs about that. She’s obviously center-left and many of her decisions exemplify that. What’s wrong with just focusing on her qualifications i.e. education, experience, understanding of the laws and how to apply them, rather than if she is “liberal enough.” That’s so annoying.

  • J M Ashby

Can someone explain to me why a Chief Justice having empathy is a bad thing?

  • http://emsique.blogspot.com emsique

Sotomayor’s nomination is goddanm awesome. The Douche-o-meter on my laptop’s news filter is already pegged, and I haven’t even started to watch the news shows.Every time Obama does something reasonable, intelligent and competent the old bigoted douche squad is on the tube howling away. The best thing about old white bigots is that they have less time on the planet than the younger folks. If the Repubes keep this up, in 20 years they will be reduced to a few toothless nursing home residents sitting in their soggy diapers squawking “I miss Rush!”

  • ElGoddamnMystico

A few more words to replace the classic Goddamn™RocktacularBeefyUltra-Giga-MechaGourmet

  • jmy

Oh and I’m going to slap the next person that’s says Sotomayor doesn’t have the intelligence to be on the SCOTUS. Whether it’s Glenn Beck or even Jonathan Turley, left or right, I will use all my power to successfully put my fist through the TV screen in hopes that magically it lands on someones nose. How does graduating top of your class a Princeton, one of this countries elite schools, and Yale Law School, not qualify you as intelligent. Harold Koh or Diane Wood may be “smarter” as Turley put it earlier, but does that mean she’s less qualified than them.

  • http://annette-justmylittlepieceoftheworld.blogspot.com/ Annette

From what I am seeing and reading it is because she has not come out in support or at least full 100% support of Roe V Wade.. that’s why she isn’t “liberal enough”

  • J

Maybe put gd back in your blog name so that you stop people in the comments from using it so much that it goes from being possibly offensive to being the worst of the worst…that is, to stop it becoming the GDAB equivalent of “first!1!”Or Rocktacular. That’s good too.

  • J

Oh, how i love to hear these hacks go on and on about how there are “many” examples of Judge S being racist. And of course, when asked to cough one up, they simply reply, “there are many.” OH. Well, it must be true then!

  • http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/bird/flamingo/honolulu/flamingo01.jpg veralynn

    I love rocktacular myst

  • Billybob

J-Here’s one for ya-”Sotomayor was much more clear in another law-school speech in 2001, this time at UC Berkeley law school. Facing another sympathetic crowd, she informed the graduates that, contrary to public opinion, color and gender do mean something in qualifications for public service:“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.” — Judge Sonia Sotomayor, in her Judge Mario G. Olmos Law and Cultural Diversity Lecture at the University of California (Berkeley) School of Law in 2001″J- that is a racist remark, a reverse racist remark, but still racist.

  • http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/bird/flamingo/honolulu/flamingo01.jpg veralynn
  • jmy

AnnetteThat’s some of the stuff I’ve been reading. My issue is that it shouldn’t be about whether she is liberal enough, but whether she can do the job. And the fact that she may not be 100% supportive of Roe v. Wade maybe a concern, but people need to understand that there is more to the SCOTUS than abortion and Roe v. Wade. I don’t care about ideology, but whether she is fair and shows empathy and understanding when it comes to deriving a certain decision.

  • vyccan

Bob, I know I’m a ‘minority’ commenter who is definitely in the minority on this, but I would like to register my ‘THANK YOU’ for the adjustment in the blog nickname.

  • ceu

“that is a racist remark”completely disagree. It’s very doubtful that she meant that to hold true in every instanceUnless you think that every group – men, women, gays, straights, blacks, hispanics, etc., have the same life experiences as white men.

  • http://annette-justmylittlepieceoftheworld.blogspot.com/ Annette

Okay.. that’s what I have been reading and I guess she ruled against the Mexico City policy that Pres. Obama overturned earlier this year. That was in 2002, and that is one of the only cases she has ever ruled on. That’s why they don’t know what to say about her. Also there is a question about how she stands on Church and State.

  • http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/bird/flamingo/honolulu/flamingo01.jpg veralynn

We all have our own experiences. Mine is a white female. Hers is an hispanic female. Yours may be white male or black male. My point is, everyone brings their life experience to everything they do. That argument that she is racist because she has experienced life is bull. If you read racism into that statement, perhaps you should look at your own experience.

  • ceu

she voted with the conservative judges 95% of the time? That’s a bit shocking to hear after reading only the GOPers reactions to her today…

  • http://annette-justmylittlepieceoftheworld.blogspot.com/ Annette

That comment is taken out of context.. there is more to it than that.. she was talking about a case involving minorities.than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

  • J

@BillyBob (honestly): even if I concede that’s racist, and I don’t, that’s one. One that I’ve heard referenced a lot. One does not equal many.

  • GItheSIR

OK, I have flipped my white male switch. As a white male, white males have run this country into the fucking ground, owned, controlled, ruled, enslaved and exploited most of this planet for entirely too long. I really don’t feel bad for the poor white male. He will be fine. He can still find a job and a higher rate and get paid at a higher wage than everyone else.Come out trolls!

  • BillyBob

“That argument that she is racist because she has experienced life is bull”That is not the argument at all. The statement is racist, not because she experienced life, but because she brings up race- Latina vs white man.Try it this way with a little switch in words and she if it sounds different to you now.”I would hope that a wise White man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a Black man who hasn’t lived that life.”Don’t lie, that sounds a lot more racist now, doesn’t it?

  • J M Ashby

GISir – As another white male I agree, accept for the part about the jobs at a higher rate. That is not the case anymore. No one wants educated white guys these days, they cost too much. They are all looking for minorities and illegals. The rest I agree with though. No reason to feel sorry for us. The white man has deffinantly ruled for too long.

  • http://www.thenewwearsoff.com ǝlʎʞ uɯɐppoƃ

It’s about context BillyBob. If the SCOTUS was filled with minority women, then no, that would not sound racist. It would sound realistic. Also, goddamn.

  • J

Question: that conservative judge thing. It seems to come from her voting with republican appointed judges. But…she’s a republican appointed judge. And according to some, a liberal. So are we to assume that all rep app judges are conservative-and therefore that Judge S is as well? Or is this kind of a bogus stat? Maybe that 95% are rep app and conservative.

Funny how white liberals live in their own little world. Oh, they are so happy that Sotomayor is a “Latina” or “Hispanic” though none of them would know a boricua from olmec. Why should they? All those little brown people look alike, speak Spanish and like that music with that crazy beat. That there are huge resentments, prejudices based on skin color and vast cultural differences between Caribbean people and South American people will come as a surprise to whitey. (I dont care what you say — Obama is culturally white.)A New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent is not considered a real Puerto Rican on the island. Puerto Ricans and Mexicans don’t like each other much. They don’t even look like each other, but whitey has never noticed that, either. So, no, despite what we hear on MSNBC, the “Hispanic world” is not “rejoicing” at Sotomayor.

  • http://arkytek.blogspot.com/ ∇•B=0  Goddamned Silly Ratfaced Git  ∇•D=ρ

If Sonia Sotomayor is not smart enough to be a Justice, then what does that make W? A moron?

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl™

Her gender or race should be off the table, regardless of her life experience.

Agreed, Billy. Now, when everyone in the MSM and the Senate stops referring to her as the first Hisanic female to be appointed to SCOTUS, then they can have an honest discussion about her qualifications. I’ll take it off the table when they do.

  • http://arkytek.blogspot.com/ ∇•B=0  Goddamned Silly Ratfaced Git  ∇•D=ρ

Thank you for your dose of projection nitesurfer. We haven’t had any arrogant, always superior, condescending asshole wrong wing trolls in a while.Rather presumptuous of you to tell me what I do and don’t know about. How the fuck do you know what I know? Are you claiming to be omniscious or something?

  • ceu

yeah, nitesurfer, and you might not know blood pudding from yorkshire pudding or a pierogi from a golumpki. BFD.I couldn’t care less if she’s Hispanic, (and I’m a white liberal living in my own lovely little world) altho having an Hispanic on the court might make it a bit more representative of the population.I’m glad she’s female. But then…you might think that all those little female people look alike, etc.and, BTW, calling people “whitey” the way you did is just as offensive as referring to Puerto Ricans as “spics”.

  • J

“utterly indiscriminate” not sure that I agree with this goal. I get the good place it comes from, but whenever someone tells mr they don’t see color, it posses it off because it means you don’t see me. I want you to see me, in all my differences and glory. Just don’t deny me my rights.@BillyBob: as soon as you build a time machine so you can make sure race and gender never negatively affected her life, then you can take them off the table. Otherwise, ignoring them makes as much sense as ignoring her work experience.

  • ElGoddamnMystico

nitesurfer- Are you accusing liberals of having less of an understanding of cultural differences than conservatives? Or less than whom, specifically?A Puerto Rican in NY isn’t considered a real Peurto Rican on the island? Well, shit, I’m Italian but I wouldn’t be considered a real Italian in Italy…because I’m an American. So maybe the “hispanic world” isn’t “rejoicing” but you’re just kinda saying stuff so maybe you should “shut the fuck up”

  • J

jane -the latest answer from the wrong wing, particularly when accused of being racist, is to call anyone that even mentions the existence of race a racist. This is, of course, ridiculous, but when you are wearing a white outfit with a hood and burning crosses on lawns you have to accuse everyone of being a racist so that you are ‘just like everyone else.’The Republicanastycals have done everything they can to completely destroy our language and convert it into the kode of the Klan.Torturing and beating people to death is just the way they ‘keep us safe’ while goose-stepping into glory.

Now on my blog:A case for diversityFor the most part I like Obama’s Supreme Court replacement for Souter. She is probably not nearly as intelligent as he. However, few people are as intelligent as Souter. Two things concern me about her, though:1) A pundit on MSNBC who was discussing the president’s SC selections said, “they might represent a president for 40+ years.” When I look at Sotomayor I suspect that she will be lucky to survive half that amount of time. I’m just being realistic, folks. She is a diabetic, and she is unbelievably obese.2) Currently, only 4 of the 9 SC justices were raised outside of the northeast. Only two (John Paul Stevens and Anthony Kennedy) were not educated at Ivy League schools. Sotomayor will replace a fellow northeasterner.”We must have diversity across genders and races and blah blah.” Yeah, yeah. Great. What about REGIONAL diversity? There are other regions aside from the northeast. There are other great schools aside from Ivy League universities.

  • http://broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

    …and she is unbelievably obese.

What the fuck, MG? Did they roll her out on a lumbetr dolley? Did they break down the wall and drive her in on a forklift? Sotomayor is NOT obese. And 40+ years is unrealistic unless you’re planning on her never retiring and continuing to serve until she’s 94 years old. What about REGIONAL diversity?

What about it? “Only” 4 of 9 is 44%. I suppose 55% was too much when O’Connor was on the bench? And heaven forbid that soomeone should have an evil Ivy League education. We wouldn’t want intelligent justices on the Supreme Court, would we?

  • http://arkytek.blogspot.com/ ∇•B=0  Goddamned Silly Ratfaced Git  ∇•D=ρ

Perhaps a look at population density distribution functions might explain why so many come from the north east. When you have 8 million people in one city you are likely to have a few of them represented almost anywhere in any organization. Aside from the left coast, particularly California, no one lives anywhere but the northeast corridor, the left coast, and we’ll throw in the great lakes to pick up detroit and Chicago, etc. What’s left of the country, even Texas, is not a signifiacant part of the total population and it’s virtually all in Texas.People are not picked based on the surface area of the country all being represented equally. There will always be a bias based on where most people live. Should we pick a Justice from Wyoming even though there is probably no one from there even remotely as qualified as Sotomayor? Also, the two most significant federal circuits are the second and the ninth. Sotomayor is from the second. I’ll bet if you check the second and ninth circuit are overrepresented on the SC. You should bitch about that too. I’ll ignore you on that one as well.I know, we can have a lottery to pick our Justices. They don’t really need to have law training. My pizza delivery guy is smart enough but we’ll get one from Montana. We’ve probably never had a Justice from Montana.

Type I Diabetes is no longer the life shortening condition that it once once was. Sonia has had type I diabetes since she was 8 years old. She is now 55. She may not live to 90, but few people do. She has been controlling her blood sugar with injections for nearly half a century. She looks quite healthy to me. I wouldn’t expect her to have health issues just because she has diabetes.I have type I diabetes myself and I know that the vast majority of humanity are terribly ignorant about diabetes. Wilford Brimley can’t even pronounce it right. Provided you keep your A1C below 6.5, complications are unheard of.
