You need to budget for this program. How much money would you budget for the program knowing that last year 123 families were paid these benefits?

It is deceptive to say the least.. But then what else is new.. At least 2 commenters I saw understood and called it as just cutting the excess but no ones benefits would be cut. The others were just rabid, and would be yelling I think no matter what.

Annette -Yes. I agree. The headline is an outright lie that is contradicted by the article it headlines.The headline is being repeated as truth in cyberspace. This is what the trolls on last night’s PTT were going on about.It is fiscally irresponsible to budget 300% of what was spent last year. Obama dropped it from 110 million to 60 million and the wrong wing loonies at policelink go apeshit because they publish an article with a headline that is factually wrong. Benefits were not cut by nearly 50%, the budget was.

I’m not sure how it works in on-line media, but in the printed press, the people who write the headlines are not the people who write the articles.Quite often, headlines bear only a marginal (no pun intended) relation to the article’s subject matter or message, which in my mind, means 2 things:1.) The headline person(s) did not actually read the article, and/or2.) The purpose of the headline is only to entice the reader.Sort of like movie trailers entice the viewer to watch some piece of crap that appeared to be a decent film.

In normal cases I would agree with you Wolfe. Headlines are written by the Headline writer at a newspaper. I also worked for a Newspaper (as a photographer) once upon a time.In this case the headline is a outright lie.I believe this was done intentionally to smear the President. I believe this because it worked.

This is happening more and more all over.. even at Huffington I have noticed it lately.. It seems the headlines are very deceiving. Then when you read the article it is completely different. Most of the time someone in the comments will say something about it and that it is wrong. I have also noticed it at most other sites.. One that is really bad about it is Susie Madrack @ Think Progress. She rarely writes anything that is in any way good about the president or anyone in the administration.

I’ve observed the same thing Annette.It’s an alarming trend. In the newspaper business, Headlines were supposed to capture the essence of the lede in minimal words. A misleading headline was a bad headline. No editor would allow a headline that was contradicted by a stories content. Headlines must capture the interest to entice people to read the story.This is why we see this misleading nonsense in web media. Come up with an outrageous headline to entice people to read the story. The people that read the story find out that the headline was bullshit. The people that only read headlines wind up being misinformed.Our media these days seems to be more interested in misinforming readers than in informing them. And yes, HuffPo has this disease and it is getting worse, not better.

I’ve noticed that most of the wrong wingers are totally lacking a sense of humor. BillO has no sense of humor at all. Limbaugh is not totally lacking but impaired. Hannity’s is missing. Beck seems to have one but it is suppressed most of the time. Doucheborough is probably the exception.

Chris Jansing or whatever her name is was on MSNBC earlier and was talking about people who were there.. and he walked in front of the camera and she said “There goes our own, Chuck Scarbourgh.” I laughed.. I just watched the President’s speech at the dinner. First off…we have a President that says “wa’sup” (you know what I mean lol)I thought it was funny at times, but I was expecting it to be like the Smith dinner last year. I also love his humility and the way he laughs at himself.Jim Cramer didn’t look too happy and stretch looked like the dick that he is. Chuck Todd looked like he was at a funeral. Joe Johns (the guy from CNN, I think that is his name) looked like he was crying with laughter. And Demi and Ashton seemed to be enjoying themselves. Did I miss anybody else? I didn’t see anyone from faux news. Was that during Wanda’s time?

Well they have lots to think about after tonight… they can dwell on it and let it fester and swell till Monday.. By Monday morning it should be ready to pop into a full rant and rave…I can’t wait to see what is said about the Hannity water boarding …lol
