Super Stupid

Via Oliver Willis:

A RNC member tells Roger Simon that when committee members meet in an extraordinary special session next week, they will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”

So the RNC is approving a resolution in favor of name calling? They ought to just drop the pretense and do what they mean — approve a resolution to rebrand the Democrats as “Stinky Poo Poo Kakka Boogers.”

Incidentally, other than obstructing the president’s cabinet selections and electing Michael Steele on the sixth ballot, this is probably the only thing the Republicans will have actually accomplished this year.

Atta boy, Republicans! You’re special!

I’ve rebranded the Republicans as Nazis. It short, sweet, and suits them to a T. Their rampant fascism is apparent to all. Mindless ideologues every single one of them.Their intellectuals have fled from the vicious insanity they embrace (Posner is just the latest). When you look and see that Boehner, McConnel, Cantor and Steele are the best they have, you have to conclude that the patients have taken over the asylum. These people are dangerous.Their goal is to polarize. It’s working. The Brown Shirts have arrived.

From Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary:Social Democracy: A Democratic welfare state that incorporates both capitalist and socialist practices.Sounds a lot like what America ALREADY is to me. Welfare, while a dirty word to some is simply AID to those in need. When we have to bail out the financial industry due to capitalism run amok, Socialism starts looking pretty good!

This is a pointless move.Real people dont give a shit what their government is called as long as it works.

If this resolution passes, does it mean the Democrats have to change their name?

“We heard about them rebranding us as Democrat Socialist and we thought, well…two can play at that game. So we started wondering what we could call them to get even. It took about three seconds. Rahm was occupied with something – he didn’t even look up, just said, ‘Call them Republicans.’Well…Rahm’s version was a little longer, actually, but that was the point, anyway.”

“bail out the financial industry.”That is socialism, albeit limited. The Republican way is to privatize the profits and socialize the losses. Win/win for the corporatist. More transfer and redistribution of wealth from the poor to the rich.It isn’t just the financial industry we are bailing out.Notice that normal non-fascists would have used “Democratic Socialist Party.” They are sticking to the juvenile name calling that they started in the ’80s.When need to return their favors by always referring to John Boehner as Jonny Boehner. Sen. Vitter is Davey Vitter. Likewise Mitchey McConnel and Mikey Steele. I suggest Linda Graham for dear sweet Lindsey.

In point of fact, the Republicans are anything but Republicans.Ever since they started gobbling the neocon crap they abandoned anything remotely resembling ‘small government, fiscal conservatism’ and replaced it with some evil Skull & Bones fuck it all philosophy – red, white and blue hegemony wrapped in depleted uranium ribbon. They brought an article of impeachment against Clinton for lying under oath about a consensual blowjob. That’s all you need to know about why none of those ass bastards will ever swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth (besides the psychological impossibility of it).Bleh.Just sayin’./back into the cave to stomp about angrily in the dark

With respect to JMAshby, I don’t think Americans really do know the difference between name calling and a working government. Most people don’t take the time to know what’s working and what isn’t. They just listen to some radio personality to tell them and they listen to find out what name to call people. That’s part of the problem. That’s why poor, rural people vote against their self-interest. Someone told them “The other side is the party of atheists and socialism so voting for them for any reason is support for that.”Here in TN we vote red by huge margins, but when our TennCare program (you know, state sponsored health care for the poor) was being cut back, who do you think screamed and cried the loudest. That program could have worked had it not been for a campaign of name calling and base ideology. See, TennCare was something they were owed, but they would never vote for the most liberal congressman/senator/governor in the Universe b/c he/she is a socialist.

Well remember.. Rep. Sessions from Texas said the GOP had to be like insurgents and try to take back the country by any means needed..So if they can vote to change the Democratic Party to Democrat Socialists, we should be able to so I would say we have to call them American Taliban..

Camel – I agree that most people dont know the difference, thats why I don’t think they care what its being labeled as. They only care if its working for them.Cousinavi – You hit the nail on the head. “ed, white and blue hegemony wrapped in depleted uranium ribbon”Depleted uranium is going to make Agent Orange look like the common cold in the years ahead. Sending men over for 3-4-5 tours of duty in a row to a uranium poisoned desert will not be without side effects.

cousinavi -If you have not seen this Posner story at DailyKos ‘Kaput: GOP Icon Declares Party “Brain Dead”‘, you should. It will make your day.Annette -Based on Posner, I’d go with “American Zombie Talibangelicals™”. The AZT™ Party

So long as we’re throwing around names, I thought of names for both parties, Dumb (for Dems) and Dumber (for Repubs).Or, we could just call both parties Corrupt, and be done with all of this nonsense.

  • http://annette-justmylittlepieceoftheworld.blogspot.com/ Annette

    That’ll work too…lol

I like Elephant Turds for the repubs.

GIT: More like Brown Shorts, since the Republicans have shit themselves in fear and anger over becoming the irrelevant party they in fact now are, and with this new stunt they’re just reinforcing that assessment. This is sad. They can’t find anything better to do with their time than be so petty, puerile and fatuous that they have to officially take the time to call the Democratic Party by a new name? I really hope people remember this at election time.

Beat ya to it.The Republican party has taken its first major political action since the election. The have, in fact, convened an emergency meeting for the purpose. Are they getting together to finally put forward the federal budget proposal they promised? Are they going to come up with an initiative on health care?Do they have something to contribute on unemployment? On Afghanistan? On nuclear proliferation? On Supreme Court nominations? On financing Social Security and Medicare? On energy? On firing Steele and picking a new leader? No.The purpose of the meeting is to “rebrand” the Democratic party as the “Democrat Socialist Party”.They have so completely failed to rebrand their own discredited party — after seven tries in seven months — that they have decided that their only recourse is to “rebrand” the Democrats.Namecalling. And not even very clever namecalling. My eight year old could do better. When was the last time an embattled political party ever found its way back to the top with a strategy of “Well, you’re just a big Poopyhead!”?Tempting as it might be for the Democrats to retaliate by thinking up nasty names to “rebrand” the GOP with (sorry, The Nazi Party is already taken), I think the Democrats are going focus on all that boring stuff — cleaning up Bush’s mess, rebuilding the economy, passing universal health care, and kicking Republican ass in elections.http://hellodollyllama.blogspot.com/2009/05/gop-settles-on-their-new-strategy.html
