Here’s an hilarious thing.

The Republicans — the party of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin — are attacking Sonia Sotomayor’s intellect.

Suddenly intellectualism is important for a party that thinks the jury is still out on, you know, science. The party that ran several candidates for president who, when asked about it in a televised debate, admitted that they don’t “believe” in evolution — essentially embracing the creationist notion that the Earth is 5,000 years old.

    Funny how white liberals live in their own little world. Oh, they are so happy that Sotomayor is a “Latina” or “Hispanic” though they wouldn’t know a boricua from olmec. And why should they? All those little brown people look alike, speak Spanish and like that music with that crazy beat. That there are huge resentments, prejudices based on skin color and vast cultural differences between Caribbean people and South American people will come as a surprise to whitey. (I dont care what you say — Obama is culturally white.)A New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent is not considered a real Puerto Rican on the island. Puerto Ricans and Mexicans don’t like each other much. They don’t even look like each other, but whitey has never noticed that, either. So, no, despite what we hear on MSNBC, the “Hispanic world” is not “rejoicing” at Sotomayor.

It’ll be interesting to see if they pile onto this bandwagon, or try and steer clear. It’s a slippery slope for them, both for personal and future political reasons (Sotomayor will be confirmed no matter what they say, and I’m sure all 3 of them would love a Palin presidential run).This line of attack truly is comical. Compare Sotomayor’s summa cum laude B.A. degree from Princeton and her time as the editor of the Yale Law Journal to Harriet Miers’ 2 degrees from Southern Methodist University. Hmmm….
