Add Feinstein To The Coalition

Dianne Feinstein yesterday:

“To be candid with you, I don’t know that [President Obama] has the votes right now.” She added, “I think there’s a lot of concern in the Democratic caucus.”

I’m putting her on the fence. While it’s unclear where she stands on the public option, she absolutely needs to be reminded about how a super-majority of Americans support a public option. So Dianne Feinstein joins the ranks of the Coalition of the Corrupt & Spineless.

Call Senator Feinstein’s office early and often and make sure she knows that upwards of 76 percent of Americans support the public option according to NBC and the Wall Street Journal:

Phone: (202) 224-3841
Fax: (202) 228-3954

And we should probably remove Senator Schumer from the coalition. Yesterday:

A key Democrat, New York Sen. Charles Schumer, said this option now seems even more of a necessity in view of unsuccessful behind-the-scenes attempts to get a deal with Republicans on nonprofit co-ops as an alternative to a public plan. [...]

“I don’t think I could say with a straight face that this (co-op proposal) is at all close to a nationwide public option,” Schumer, D-N.Y., told The Associated Press on Sunday. “Right now, this co-op idea doesn’t come close to satisfying anyone who wants a public plan.”

Duh. The co-op plan sucks, and the Republicans don’t want it. It’s a waste of time. Just include a public option and stand boldly with 76 percent of the American people.

    Goddammit.

Absolutely! We’ll just keep calling and asking why they’re not siding with the American people in the polls and remind them that we’re well aware of the amount of money they’re taking from these insruance companies. And how this won’t be forgotten in 2010.

Bob, yes “the co-op plan sucks and the Republicans don’t want it.” But who shitcanned it? If the Republicans had wanted it, would it still be on the table? It looks like Schumer came out with his statement after the co-op planned died an appropriately horrible death in the Senate cloak room. I haven’t been in tune over the last couple of days, but I wish there were some Democrat who flat out said what you did. “Hey! Wake up! This co-op plan sucks balls so badly, EVEN the Republicans don’t want it.” I haven’t heard anyone in favor of a public option actually discuss it except the President. Any time someone is on to discuss health care it’s a GOP Senator freking out about such a plan with no rebuttal from a Dem Senator in favor of it.

It becomes apparent that electing Obama is only the first step in getting out government back from the corporate criminals. Since we are stuck with a two party system, the next step will be to unseat the motherfucking, sellout, piece of shit, douchebag, smegma licking, two faced, rat bastard Democrats that hold Senate seats bought by corporate interests. Get the most senior progressive congressional representative to knock their sorry asses out in the primary.Even though I think he is a sorry excuse for a presidential candidate, Ralph Nader is at least partially right when he says that there is no difference in the two parties. In some cases it’s true.

Well, I would have liked it. But if the Republicans in the senate are opposed even to that, then why compromise? Go for broke. I’m making calls today.QT

    >>>Well, I would have liked it.There wouldn’t have been anything to like. The private insurers would’ve killed off the co-ops rather quickly.

    >>>Even though I think he is a sorry excuse for a presidential candidate, Ralph Nader is at least partially right when he says that there is no difference in the two parties. In some cases it’s true.Nader is a kook. Of course there are differences between the parties. The Democrats are just weak, that’s all. They need an infusion of T — and we’re working to provide it.

    Bob,

Nader is a kook. Of course there are differences between the parties. The Democrats are just weak, that’s all. They need an infusion of T — and we’re working to provide it.

Right now, Bob, from an Independent perspective, there’s not much difference at all. The only infusion your party thinks it needs is cash. The only time your party listens to the people is during election time. Your party accepts bribes from special interests, and wonders why citizens think they are on the take. In these manners, your party is EXACTLY like the Republican party. If the human race were a body, political parties would be the asshole.

Add Evan Bayh to the list.. from Show me Progress:

Take Bayh, for example, who this winter formed a Blue Dog caucus. His wife, Susan, sits on corporate boards for a living–fourteen at last count–and one of them is Wellpoint, the biggest health insurer in the country. But he says her activities are no reason for concern: “‘The reality is, we don’t talk about stuff that she’s involved with.’” Oh, thank goodness. Imagine how reassured I was to hear it.

That makes me feel better, they don’t discuss things.. how about the rest of you? /snark off

  • Anne

Her line is busy-I guess that’s good news! I’ll keep calling. She’s been on my shit list since she agreed to censure MoveOn.And it’s DIANNE

    >>>Add Evan Bayh to the list.Evan Bayh… on the list of spineless, bought off Democrats… NO?!?!?! It’s… it’s such a shock I… I think I need to sit down…

I hate to have to agree with PPP again, but I must.75% of americans want publice health care.At least 70% of americans want single payer health care. The members of BOTH parties won’t even talk about single payer and they are damn determined to kill any public option whatsoever. BOTH PARTIES.The see the polls. They know that three out of four americans want a public option. How much evidence do you need to conclude that all of these slimy politicos are wholly owned and operated by their corporate overlords? They only care what we think at election time.I don’t see how any other conclusion is possible.
