Daschle Walks Back

In an interview with Ezra Klein today, Daschle claimed he never said he wanted to abandon the public option:

I don’t know where that came from. We’ve been pushing back on that all day. I didn’t say that. I have said emphatically I support a public plan. A Medicare-for-all public plan. Any federal plan. For all the reasons that have been made for years. It’s important for cost, for choice, for competition, for popularity. I strongly support it.

What I did say is that I’m willing to compromise on most things to bring the package across the line.

Including the public option? Daschle, you confusing bastard.

Tom “The Tool” Daschle: “I swear I am not a tool. I’ve always been in favor of a crippled public option that won’t provide real competition to my corporate overlord’s offerings.”Sure. Whatever. Tell us another Tom.

What pisses me off more than anything in this process is having no one but Obama and Biden to bitch to. I mean, really …………, I have Brownback, Roberts, and Jerry Moran to bitch to!I’m f#c$ed!Something I’d like to see is a breakdown of how many American’s are supported by taxpayer provided health-care NOW. Everyone from the POTUS and our lawmakers at the federal level to those at the state level and all those on Medicare, Medicaid, or SCHIP, and even every government employee from those serving in the military down to the janitor at the courthouse or municipal hall!I’ve tried a few times to crunch some numbers but it becomes overwhelming. And that’s why I supported this:http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/968679247/conversative-nanny-state-movieThe taxpayer has provided more and more $ to corporations like Walmart, Cabela’s, etc. and many of those paying taxes to provide for their support are those that have NO health insurance and can’t afford it!It’s effing insane!

Don’t feel bad kansasdem, I feel the same way…I’m in Tennessee so I get Cooper (who totally killed healthcare reform last time) along with Lamarr Alexander and Bob “shudder” Corker…goddamn sucks!

This statement still does not comfort me. He said he would compromise on “most things” – wtf? I understand compromise, but usually it’s one or two things here and there, not MOST things.

Slightly OT, but: How many legislative briefs did Pres. Obama have to send before Congress started working on health care reform?

I had a thought! Scary huh? While I was still living in Nebraska I called Chuck Hagel’s office to bitch about John Ashcroft being confirmed as Attorney General due to his opposition of desegregation and legal abortion, both of which are etched in stone!I was amazed that I actually got a call back from Hagel himself, of course at the time I was very active politically, so I’m sure he’s have loved to sway me and my financial support.Of course Hagel poo-pooed my complaints about Ashcroft very politely, but then I began recieving calls from the Nebraska Repub’s almost weekly for several months. The typical call ended with me being called a “cradle to graver”! Smart huh?Let’s define these “cradle to gravers” again shall we? Politicians …….. lobbyists ……… corporations ……… banks ……….. insurance companies …………. please continue!

All of this health care rigmarole is leading me to this conclusion: senators are bullshit. Sorry, I mean… Senators are Bullshit©. Seriously, though. House Democrats are including a public option in their bill, which will totally be passed (with yet another 0 Republican votes, I’m guessing, but don’t really care). We should keep the pressure on our senators (& their bullshit) so that it doesn’t die in reconciliation.
