Okay, This Is Just Weird

So he wasn’t hiking naked on “hike naked” day. Was it “Douchebag Sailing” day in Argentina?

Gov. Mark Sanford arrived in the Hartsville-Jackson International Airport Wednesday morning, having wrapped up a seven-day visit to Buenos Aires, Argentina, he said. Sanford said he had not been hiking along the Appalachian Trail, as his staff said in a Tuesday statement to the media. [...]

The governor said he cut his trip short after his chief of staff, Scott English, told him his trip was gaining a lot of media attention and he needed to come back.

Where’s Michelle Malkin and her drive-by investigations? Where’s O’Reilly’s stalker producer?

Adding… It’s winter in Argentina. Current temperature in Buenos Aires is 45 degrees. Hardly excellent sailing weather.

Spot on Bob! This has been a strange morning so far. I watched Chris Matthews take down Scarborough and the Star Search Spokesmodel on Morning Joke! They were arguing about healthcare and Joe kept putting up some stupid poll showing the number of Anericans who have insurance and are concerned about the cost and future deficits. Matthews was having none of it. He said that Joe and the rightwing have brought up this same crap every time we’ve tried to fix healthcare since Truman. Matthews slapped both Joe and Mika saying that Mika was part of the group that’s still as he put it “Pussy Footing Around” when hit comes to healthcare and that we have to get something done. I’m sure it will go viral later. Between that and this idiot Sanford who was clearly down in Argentina to check out all the topless women in thongs! Nice going govenor. Like you didn’t look crazy enough already!

Just read a disturbing report over on Greg Sargent’s The Plum Line.Did Rahm Emanuel privately signal to Democratic Senators that the White House is prepared to drop the public insurance option from health care reform in order to get a bill passed? Two Dem Senators now say Emanuel is signaling exactly that:White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel met last night at the U.S. Capitol with Senate Democrats and told them Obama is “open to alternatives” to a new government insurance program in order to get legislation overhauling the health-care system to his desk, said Senator Kent Conrad of North Dakota.“His message was, it’s critical that you do this,” Conrad said.Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus of Montana said Emanuel urged the senators to seek Republican support and didn’t discourage them from pursuing the use of non-profit cooperatives, an idea Conrad has proposed. That last line is key: The White House may be signaling that getting a public option is less important than winning bipartisan support. This would undercut Dems who want to bypass the GOP, arguing that bipartisanship as an end in itself isn’t as important as a public option.Yesterday at his press conference, Obama didn’t rule out supporting a reform bill without a public option. But Emanuel seems to be going considerably farther, actively suggesting that Senators seek an alternative if necessary. If this is true, I think it’s a big mistake and Obama could be looking at a single term presidency! I don’t see any other outcome.

He was in Argentina commiserating with one of his right wing Nazi heroes who fled Germany after WWII. “Oh, Fritz, mein freund. You guys had the right idea, and we almost got it right too under Mein Fuhrer Bush, but alas we failed. Gott in Himmel, what a mess! Oh, shitzen. I gotta get back to the States. Adios. I mean, auf weidersehen!”

I’m still reeling from the round of applause given to Senator Ensign at their weekly luncheon. What a proud group of leaders we have in that party! Applause. Really? Really?

I started snickering when his wife said she didn’t know where he had gone. Ahhh…I love the smell of Republicans imploding in the morning.

This Sanford thing isn’t over by a longshot. Something more is going to come of this, I just don’t know what yet.As far as the Rahm Emmanuel news report goes, I wouldn’t trust Conrad as far as I could throw him. I’m guessing it’s a hit piece further designed to discourage the public outcry for a public option.Fuck bipartisanship. If this doesn’t happen now, it never will.

It seems pretty obvious to me that Sanford was out banging a mistress or visiting some kind of sex slave district or homosexual gathering. Pick your sexual cliche, thats what he was off doing. Why else would he dissapear.. not tell his wife or family at all.. and go to Argentina? If it was something innocent or harmless, it wouldn’t be kept secret through 4 different stories of lies now.

Hmm. I wonder what could be in Argentina….Oh, that’s right. Bill Clinton-approved strippers. Whee!

Politicians are very calculating people. On nearly every question the first and foremost thing is what is the most calculating thing I can say that will benefit my ambitions. In consideration of that, his answers of “off writing”, “hiking in the Appalachians” and now ‘I’ve been in Argentina driving the coast” are the answers that he’s come up with as the one that will put him in the best possible light.I can’t wait to find out the real story… it has got to be a good one. And, it sounds like ther are enough people willing to throw him under the bus to get to it. His wife, lt governor, fellow republicans. Aren’t these are supposed to be your allies?Speaking of allies, ole morning blow was laughing this story off today. He got in that ‘SC Republicans who like to spend’ are against Sanford. Where was all the high and might gasbaggery we got during the Spitzer thing (which was real, don’t get me wrong) or even the mock shock he expresses on a regular basis over nothing at all. Imagine if this were Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid. Fauxtrage!!!!

I heard he flew back to a different airport than the one he left the state vehicle at. Very weird. Smells like an illicit sexual liaison to me. I think he hasn’t realized this is the 21st century, privacy is hard to come by, especially when you’re a public figure. Will be interesting to see what further digging reveals.
