Quote of the Day

“If private insurers say that the marketplace provides the best quality health care, if they tell us that they’re offering a good deal, then why is it that the government — which they say can’t run anything — suddenly is going to drive them out of business? That’s not logical.”
—President Obama making perfect sense in his press conference today

When will the corporate press ask Republicans the same question? If the government is so terrible at running things, how could the public plan ever possibly be a threat to the most-excellent private insurance mafia?

Just watched Ed Shultz arguing with that idiot Dillon Ratigan about who’s going to pay for Healthcare. He began with the rationing bullshit and ended somewhere with his children are going to end up paying for it along with a Chinese banker. I’m so sick of these stupid Republican talking points. Ed was holding his own when he could get a word in edgewise. I’m still trying to understand why MSNBC gave this tool a show starting Monday right after Morning Joke. Then again, he has that same Scarborough slant of ignorance and smugness that will help him to fit right in. Just wating for this guy to finish asking his stupid, rambling questions will seriously annoy you.

Dylan Ratigan got his own show clearly because MSNBC is the liberal network.

By the way, this is off topic but, I have to say I enjoyed watching the President bitch slap Jake Tapper, Major Garrett, Chuck Todd and the equally useless Chip Reid. Each question was equally stupid in it’s own right but, I felt that Garrett’s and Chip Reid’s deserved the scorn they got because of the framing. The President made clear who was in charge and it wasn’t John McCain, or his “here kitty, kitty, kitty sidekick, the lovely Lindsey Graham. It was priceless!

MSNBC is liberal from 6pm-10pm! From 6am to 6:pm it’s conservative politicans and talking points all day long! It’s unwatchable during those hours!

Bob, Bob, Bob, you silly man. Don’t you understand that the evil big government socialized program will be terribly run but will be cheap because the evil big government has the dastardly anti-competitive advantage of size? Don’t you realize the evil big government can demand price concessions from the selfless pharmaceutical and medical-device companies that the virtuous free-market insurers cannot possibly match? And don’t you care that this will destroy the wonderful perfectly-functioning free market and lead to the awful scary socialism? Well, don’t you? Why aren’t you scared?Or some such nonsense.(By the way, I think your problem is that you’re expecting the argument from the insurance companies and the R’s to make sense.)

If the Rebubs are so confident about their plans and their excellent health care mafia, then the good move would be to support the Pres. with his plan, then sit back and watch it fail while saying that they were being bipartisan angels. Afterwards, they can swoop in and rescue us all.

LVS-But of course, that would only work if the public plan WOULD fail, which it most likely wouldn’t. Hence, their full-blown fear mongering trying to run the thing into the ground.

It’s clear by the way they’re scrambling with their media blitz and stupid cable commercial that they’re afraid of that poll showing 76% favor a public plan. The very fact that Republicans are all against the public plan should also be viewed as a sign that we’re on the right track. If those idiots are against this, it’s definitely a good idea because the Republicans haven’t had a good idea in EIGHT YEARS!

This quote is confirmation that Pres. Obama “gets it” – that not only is he fully aware of the Frank Lutz talking points…but he’s also fully prepared to counter them…in his own time and when it’s “right” to do so.Time and again we all freak out because we don’t think he’s doing enough…and time and again the man proves that he’s “got this”.Yes, the continued pressure on our spineless Demo reps is appropriate…but understand, he really does get the big picture here…and he probably has more irons in this health care reform fire than we know about.

roxsteady -I disagree. From 15:00 to 17:00 MSNBC has Tamron Hall and David Shuster. They are not conservative and they are very good journalists.17:00 to 18:00 is Hardball and is the same one that runs at 19:00 after The Ed Show.I agree with the rest of what you said. Andrea Mitchell is a Coporatist Tool.
