But, in correcting some of the history, as recently as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the southern Democrats were still as racist as the day is long. I doubt that as soon as the CRA was signed, every one of the racists changed overnight.So, to clarify, I do not think the Democratic party is racist, nor do I think the Democratic party should be tarred by a few racists.That said, neither should the republican party be tarred because of a few extremists.Git, you cannot have it both ways. It doesn’t matter what it was 40 years ago -it’s totally irrelevant to what’s going on today.The only reason racists supported the Democratic Party at all was because the Republican Party under Lincoln ended slavery.
