Stimulus Go

The Labor numbers are out just now: 345,000 jobs lost.

They were expecting 520,000. So this is good news. Not for the 345,000 bastards who are unemployed, but good for the broader economic forecast.

okay,im not really a “numbers” guy.but im pretty sure the job loss numbers have been 500k+ for a while now,so isnt this pretty fucking significant?also…as i wrote the previous paragraph i was forced to stare at at the chubby, and thoroughly disingenuous face of neil cavuto in the margins of this page, and it reminded me of how frantically and relentlessly the greasy fox news crowd-led by cavuto-went bonkers about how the stock market was plummeting because of obamas wild socialist, rich people raping, wealth sharing insanity.i mean, the the little arrow was pointing down.obviously this was indisputable evidence of pres. obama’s inevitable failure.and so,job numbers are improving and the little arrow has been pointing up a lot lately.some kind of records were set in feb and march.so where is cavuto, hannity etc… to give credit to obama?

    >>>so isnt this pretty fucking significant?Yes. Yes it is. Also, check the chart I added.Hannity’s “Obama recession” line is clearly bullshit.

But but but direct government stimulus is just socialism, it never works, blah blah blah blah blahHonestly. Is it just me, or does it seem like the entire canon of wingnut theology might come crashing to Earth before 2012?

I’m guessing long before 2012, Matt. Let’s see what November of 2010 holds.

From the same article you linked”The number of unemployed, according to the household survey, rose 787,000, meaning 14.5 million Americans are officially out of work. The director of a highly respected quarterly survey of Corporate Financial Officers said Thursday that 4 million more jobs might be lost before the end of 2009″And these numbers do not include people who have not filed for unemployment, people who’s benefits have run out, or highschool/college kids looking for their first job.

Well, I think it’s pretty logical that the unemployment rate will continue to worsen until those bars on the graph go above zero. The point is that less jobs are being cut. You have to crawl before you walk.
