Suck It, Private Insurance

DougJ at Balloon Juice reports on how Medicaid — yes, Medicaid — is infinitely better and more efficient than private health insurance providers.

Not shocking in the slightest. While government programs often suffer from bureaucracy, none of it could possibly compare to private insurers that literally seek out ways to screw you out of getting what you paid for.

This is true unless you live in a state with a governor that has a R behind his name like I did for the last 4 years… Baby Blunt ruined our Medicaid system in MO. By setting the income level to the point where a single woman with 4 children could only make $86 a week to qualify, that made it difficult for anyone.Even I, disabled, earning $996 a month SSDI could only get Medicaid if I paid what they called a $285 a month “SpendDown” either in the form of a check each month or in out of pocket medical expenses in order for the Medicaid to kick in.So, for it to work in that case there would have to be some kind of national standards set and mandated. The states would have to be removed from the picture or something.
