Having your air conditioner quit working when its 90 degrees outside is really not very enjoyable.Its especially not enjoyable when you can’t even call in to maintenance until monday and even then they may not make it for several days.Im lucky its going down to the high 60s at night.

It’s 08:30 in Tehran. They are in one of those half hour timezones. So 14 hours from now 2pm EST would be the earliest I would expect an air attack. I hope that doesn’t happen but it is certainly a possibility.

Matt is correct. And we shouldn’t do anything either. Lieberman has already called on Congress and the President to support the people. We can’t get involved. All it will do is bolster the hardliners.

I would like to believe that the protests in Iran may make a difference, but perhaps I’m too much of a cynic, because I don’t. I watched the protests in Burma last year, and hoped that they would lead somewhere, but they didn’t.While watching BBC World News today, someone who was being interviewed (sorry, don’t remember her name) said that this uprising may not make the significant change, nor may the next. But as long as these kind of protests continue, eventually change will occur. That was her belief at least. I think that this is the beginning of something good. The Ayatollah Khomeini is being shown the direction that the next generation of Iranians want to go. Granted, he may not listen, but it’s a start.And seriously, A, that was like the dumbest comment ever. Did Rush put you up to that?

Vera -There are quite a few half hour timezones. Prince Edward Island is too far east to be in the eastern timezone so it is a half hour ahead of EST/EDT 8:00 am EST is 8:30 am on PEI. Bunches of archipelagos are on half hour TZs. It’s more common with Islands and groups of Islands. I didn’t know until just now that Iran was in a half hour TZ.

thanks Git. I think Iraq is, so that would make sense. I remember being confused at the beginning of bushco’s war by the time zone change. IIRC, it was on the hour and then it changed. I don’t have a memory, but that is what is in my brain. Although, after your tongue twister’s from earlier, I can’t be sure of much.
