The Hockey Stick

This is my favorite thing about all the anti-global warming, carbon is natural, crap-spewing morons… Oh, carbon levels always go up and down, oh we don’t know that humans are causing it…Like the chart says, for the past several glaciation cycles (the big 100,000 year ones) carbon has bounces between 180-280 ppm. That’s the difference between happy, temperate, life-nurturing earth, and icy-hellscape earth, and we’re currently ~380 ppm and climbing.A similar chart was in my geology 101 text book, which nicely correlated to ice sheet thickness as well. I’m just saying. Introductory, freshman-level science is all you need to realize that things really are different. Sure, no one knows what’s actually going to happen, but denying it when there’s evidence all up everywhere… just makes me want to print out a bunch of these charts and staple them to people’s foreheads.

I should add – There are very few democrats in my state and the republicans here more than certainly do not support climate change legislation. two words : Mitchy McConnell

I like to group the climate change deniers intothree broad categories: The Evil, The Stupid, and The Sick.

The Evil group consists of those persons and entities that ata minimum, would be financially impacted by the efforts to reduceor reverse the causes and effects of climate change, or at themost extreme, actually profit from extending and worsening thesituation. The obvious members of this group are the oilcompanies, the auto industry, other extractors of non-renewableresources, and of course, common people who are financiallyinvested in these industries. I consider these people to be trulyevil, because they actually know the truth of human-causedclimate change, but purposely deny and confuse the issue, all forthe sake of profit.

The Stupid group consists of those uneducated masses who aretoo colossally dense to understand and accept the truth ofclimate change. These are the viewers of Fox News and listenersof Rush Limbaugh who actually believe that Global Climate Changeis a hoax designed to panic the public, and make money forgovernment researchers. Since the closest these folks have evercome to true research is a blind taste test of boiled peanuts (orp-nuts, as they call them down here), they fail to understandthat it is physically impossible for one to get rich fromgovernment research grants. The only government contractors whoget rich are those who develop and sell war (members of The Evilgroup above).

I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of the trolls wesee causing trouble on liberal blogs belong to the third group:The Sick. These "people", and I use that term loosely,don’t really care about climate change. It may be true, it maynot. Doesn’t matter. Their only goal is to post inflammatorymessages on the liberal blogs in order to stir up trouble. Theyare the type of people who would shout "Fire!" in acrowded theater, and think that the resulting chaos would beentertaining to watch. They thrive on hate and enjoy upsettingpeople for the simple pleasure of making people upset. I firmlybelieve that these people are mentally sick. This is a type ofbehavior that is counter-productive to maintaining an ordered andharmonious society, which is why you rarely see them trying towreak their particular brand of havoc in real life; they need theanonymity of the internet to protect their identities, becausedeep down in their necrotic psyches they understand that theywould get their asses kicked if they tried to spew their hatredto someone face to face.
