Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY) for proposing an amendment banning Medicare. The Republicans, who claim to be loudly opposed to government-run healthcare, voted against the amendment.

The Republicans are nothing but a pack of psychotic phonies. This also plays to the point about Governor Perry of Texas and those two Republicans in Florida who want to exclude their respective states from the president’s healthcare reform legislation. Again, I say if these bastards have the courage of their convictions, they should act now: ban Medicare and the VA in Florida and Texas. See how popular that is.

This is awesome! This guy has balls for doing this, and for having the name Tony Weiner while doing it.His slogan should be, “Tony Weiner’s Got Balls”

I called his office to say how awesome this was. Hopefully a little encouragement will do our side some good. Weird how Mike Ross’s office just let the phone ring when I tried to call there to complain…

I live just outside of Rep. Weiner’s district. He’s an unabashed leftie, liberal, progressive, insert description here, and I love him for it. I would call him a younger generation Kucinich. Who else would have the balls to do something like that? He had a great spot on Maddow last night, in case anyone missed it.

I love this guy too. I live about 2 districts away from him and have the utmost respect for him and his policies. Adding, also, he was roommates with Jon Stewart after college….

When I saw him on Rachel last night I jumped off the sofa in joy! He really is great! I think the DNC should use this in an ad to slam the Republicans. By the way, Rachel will be on Bill Maher tonight. Can’t wait?

This an excellent point by Mr. Weiner. It’s close to what Paul Krugman had to say in his article today and I don’t think Republicans have a good answer to the question. I checked the vote and it “failed” 57-0, so not a single Republican had the courage of his convictions.
