This is unbelievable:

In April 2008, Senator John Ensign’s parents each made gifts to Doug Hampton, Cindy Hampton, and two of their children in the form of a check totaling $96,000. Each gift was limited to $12,000. The payments were made as gifts, accepted as gifts and complied with tax rules governing gifts.

In case you haven’t been following along, Cindy Hampton was the woman Senator Ensign was sleeping with.

    What the eff? Is Ashby right? I don’t know what else it would be, but still weird.What isn’t so weird is to find out that yet another Republican comes from super rich parents. Would it be easier to count the ones that aren’t Old Money?

    Growing up, my momma made it clear to us that if we got into trouble and ended up in the slammer, not to call home expecting her to come down and bail us out. I can only imagine what she’d say if I called asking for a 100K to use as hush money.How low do you have to be to ask for that? How low do you have to be to write the check? And how low do you have to be to accept it?

    How low do you have to be to sleep with scum like Ensign?El Mysti -Yes, it’s much easier to count the ones that are not from old money. You only need one hand for that count.

    Hilarious! What’s really funny is that Senator Coburn has been sucked in. He claims that he counseled Ensign as a physician and spiritual adviser. Coburn claims to be a Deacon which may be true but physician? Senator Coburn is an OB/GYN. Was Ensign pregnant?

    By the way CREW, which is the Center for Responsibility in Washington has filed a lawsuit against Ensign for paying his mistress $25,000 in severence pay. His parents can’t save his sorry ass on this one. I love the smell of scandal in the GOP! The “mainstream media” is having a field day with this one. It’s just the kind of salacious story they love!

    nice to see you vyccan :) ceu-I will not be surprised at all, which speaks to the reason we need true campaign finance reform. PPP and I rarely agree, but on this we do. Money has to be taken out of politics and health care.
