Our mid-Summer fundraising drive continues. If you dig this blog, why not wad up a few dollars and cram them into the jolly candy-like button below. You know you can’t resist clicking on the jolly candy-like button. It’s calling out to you. It’s saying, “I’m jolly and candy-like and you want to cram money into me!”

And open thread for your Saturday night blogotubing. Last night was great — makes me want to bring back the PTT.

Bob, Cohen’s new movie is a mirror on American homophobia.PARTY AT BOB’S PLACE!

How do we get Congress to understand that we are tired of all of our legislation being written by special interests? It’s looking like we shall have to steal back our government from the corporate overlords.

I think a swift kick in the nuts would get the message across quite nicely. We need to have a Designated Troll to pick on in the open threads.

  • http://nanotyrnns.blogspot.com Nanotyrannus

I agree, though, Git. For you or me to get our Rep to sponsor legislation that we wrote or desire would require months of wrangling, but for corporations the access and support seems to be built in and of a higher priority.

Major Naples is one of the TAC officers at the AMA (Alabama Military Academy). He is featured in Bruno. And at one time, I told this man “OFFICER, CANDIDATE OSBORNE, YES SIR!”

Hearing of Bush’s involvement in trying to get a signature out of a half-dead John Ashcroft, I’m surprised there was no immediate press conference from Pelosi/Reid stating once again that there will be no investigation of his illegal actions.Speaking of Ashcroft – Why is it that Bush commands such loyalty from people? In spite of everything he knows about Bush’s shenanigans, he’s keeping his mouth shut.

Well it turns out that Cheney, and more specificly David Addington, decided to keep “The Presidents Surveilance Program” from congress.Holder now thinking of appointing a prosecutor? What the hell will it take to get him to commit?

  • http://nanotyrnns.blogspot.com Nanotyrannus

Nothing will make him commit. Bush, Cheney, all of them, will be able, for the rest of their lives, to completely ignore every question or accusation of illegal actions. They strongly assert that they protected the country, that what they did was perfectly legal and they value the Constitution (and they’ll say it with a straight face) and that it’s all just politics. Nothing will be done to them. Nothing.

    From the HuffPo article:

“The official characterized it as embryonic intelligence gathering effort, and only sporadically active. He said it was hoped to yield intelligence that would be used to conduct a secret mission or missions in another country _ that is, a covert operation. But it never matured to that point.”

Sounds pretty innocent, eh? Then why are there accounts of committee members being “stunned” by what they learned in the briefing from Panetta?

It is a travesty that a SP has not been appointed already.Adolf Eickmann was just defending his country too. And he just followed orders also.

These assholes should have been impeached.Apparently we only impeach for oral sex. Total disregard of the constitution is no longer an impeachable offense unless sodomy with interns is involved.

From Paddy & Laffy, this little gem of a PBS interview by Bill Moyers of Wendall Potter, ex-head of Corp. Communications at CIGNA on health insurance reform, etc. On Michael Moore & his film Sicko there’s this:WENDELL POTTER: That means that part of the effort to discredit this film was to use lobbyists and their own staff to go onto Capitol Hill and say, “Look, you don’t want to believe this movie. You don’t want to talk about it. You don’t want to endorse it. And if you do, we can make things tough for you.”BILL MOYERS: How?WENDELL POTTER: By running ads, commercials in your home district when you’re running for reelection, not contributing to your campaigns again, or contributing to your competitor.[snipped]BILL MOYERS: So your plan worked.WENDELL POTTER: It worked beautifully.

Exactly, Git. All they talk about now is “looking forward” but right at the moment they could have done something about “the present” as that bunch of ass-monkeys were wiping their butts with the Constitution, they stuck their heads in the sand. It’s really disheartening. I mean, at this point, every bit of good news out of the Hill about health care or the economy is tainted by the stench of their inaction and lying on everything else. It’s hard not to laugh out loud when they’re in front of a mic waxing eloquent about doing anything at all.

The theatre where I saw Bruno today made sure to remind me that it was, and I quote, “almost x-rated.”They also had a young woman sitting at the door to make sure no kids got in.This is not coincidentally the same company that once warned me Michael Moore’s SiCKO was “controversial” with “misleading” advertising. When pressed for details, I was told the poster fooled theatre-goers into thinking it was a zombie movie. What I wonder is why Carmike Cinemas would choose to do this, except to avoid lawsuits.Which brings up this gem:http://www.slate.com/id/2222087/

Ricci can go fuck himself. Reverse racism is bullshit. Go tell to the kids kicked out of the pool in Godamn 2009!

I can hear the cry from the amateur noise machine on the left, like Malkin and Steve Doocy: “They violated his privacy by reporting on these lawsuits!”

I would like to donate to your blog, but am offended at being talked to as though I am a fool. The first instance of having been regarded thus, as far as I am concerned, is this post. Is it possible that I might be motivated to financially contribute by simply being asked nicely?

  • Eric

    Huh? Seemed nice to me…
