Quote of the Day

“Well now, first of all let me be clear, if there’s not a deadline in Washington, nothing happens. Nothing ever happens. And, we just heard today, well, we may not be able to get the bill out of the Senate by the end of August or the beginning of August. That’s ok. I just want want people to keep on working. Just keep working.”
—President Obama responding to Harry Reid today during an event in Ohio

This is very very weak by President Obama.Unfortunately, I feel this is the beginning of the end of health care reform. The August deadline was crucial.I can’t say I’m surprised that the Dems caved: same story different year.Today HHS Sec’y Kathleen Sebelius stated that we’ve been tryingto get health care reform for 70 years.SEVENTY YEARS!I can’t say I am anticipating any great change. The System doesn’t want to pay/provide.

I don’t want them to keep working. I want them to get the fucking thing done and into conference. And now.

If the Senate wants to take the time to go over it carefully, then forgo the recess and don’t wait a month before starting. Do it now. Stay in Washington. By the time they get back, another 50,000 Americans will lose their health care and another estimated 400,000 with lose it because they will have lost their jobs.
