Who remained silent? Certainly not most liberal/progressive bloggers. There’s an argument to be made here for priorities, and if we pitch a fit on every last “atrocity”, it will only result in the president and others ignoring us. Like he appears to be attempting now. That’s one of the reasons why I saved up some outrage dollars for a situation like this most recent quote from the president. We all have a degree of political capital, and if we burn it out too soon, then we lose.

I like it.President Obama needs to realize something. Even we most loyal Democrats are not likely to turn out in force for the mid-terms or for his re-election bid if we feel that we’ve accomplished little to nothing! And an economic turn-around appears to be elusive so far.Bottom line: the COCS may easily turn our “super majority” into the briefest majority in recent history!

I could have thrown in the economy as another case of ‘we wanted bold action’….This is a consistent problem for the President t this point on a number of issues.
.@ggreenwald My support or opposition to the president doesn't hinge on four or five areas of disagreement. I'm not with ANY president 100%. 1 hour ago
@ggreenwald I'm not going to defend the president's position on indefinite detention b/c I'm against it. But, fact, he tried to close Gitmo. 1 hour ago
@ggreenwald You're right about Dem opposition to closing Gitmo. However, POTUS wants to close it. Dems like Bernie Sanders stopped him. 1 hour ago
