Distant Early Warning

Via Yglesias, here’s Greg Sargent’s summary of what the White House and congressional leadership ought to be losing sleep over:

Here are the net favorability ratings for Obama — i.e., the difference between the favorable and unfavorable ratings — broken down by party and compared with the previous week:

DEMOCRATS: +72 (+78)
REPUBLICANS: – 86 (- 84)
INDEPENDENTS: +35 (+39)

And here are the net favorability ratings for Congressional Dems, broken down by party and compared with the previous week:

DEMOCRATS: +55 (+65)
REPUBLICANS: – 90 (- 90)
INDEPENDENTS: – 20 (- 15)

The people who elected them weren’t Republicans. We fought hard and donated millions of dollars to stop Republicans from having a seat at the big kids table. As near as I can tell, Chuck Grassley and Mike Enzi didn’t appear at the convention.

Get your shit together, Democrats, and stop dealing with the stupids on healthcare. There are scores of Democrats who will vote en masse against their own party out of sheer spite and disillusionment, even if it means electing Whitey McWingnut for Senate.

Bob, the first signals of an end to bipartisanship are coming just as this wave of Democratic demand for change hits Congressional Democrats. The Blue Dogs are suddenly in trouble with their Democratic base. I think September’s going to end with the GOP and its tinfoil hat escort completely marginalized.

‘… stop dealing with Teh Stupids on healthcare’.My Lord, how could things have gotten SO obvious and SO obviously fncked? The lot of them are bought and paid for and the rest of us a headed for The Dust Bowl [and, No! it's not an NCAA playoff!]

In my experience it’s not so much that they’ll vote for the Repubs out of spite, but they’ll simply lack the enthusiasm to vote at all!If 5 to 10% of Democratic voters simply “sit out” the next 2 elections we’re screwed!Royally! Screwed!

Another reason we’re screwed:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090823/ap_on_go_ot/us_social_security_smaller_checksNot that it’s the fault of Democrats, but we’re talking about the same crowd that doesn’t want the gov’ment messin’ wif’ der Medicare! Many of whom are the loudest and most obnoxious at these town halls.
