Grasshole

This is the leading Republican tasked with helping to author healthcare reform legislation in the Senate. Once again, I give you Senator Chuck Grassley:

“In the House bill, there is counseling for end of life,” Grassley said. “You have every right to fear. You shouldn’t have counseling at the end of life, you should have done that 20 years before. Should not have a government run plan to decide when to pull the plug on grandma.”

Someone please lock him out of Congress at the end of the recess.

Agreed! If a member of the House or Senate feeds the absolute out and out lies that are firing up the bat-shit crazies they should be disregarded totally by the majority! No seat at the big kids table until you earn it!

O.K. – I’m reading the quote of what he said….he starts with a reasonable observation (“you should have done that 20 years before.”)…and veers right into crazy-land! How the hell do you get from that to pulling the plug on granny?I’ve talked with people who did shit like this but they were on acid at the time.

Is Grasshole one of the guys Baucus is trying to include in a show of bipartisanship? Give up on these guys, use reconciliation for the future good of the country, goddammit.

this is the 1st thing that has truly pissed me off in this entire “debate.” It’s so fucking insidious. Look what he did there: He stated something that’s a good idea that he supports–”you should have done that 20 years before”–without mention that it’s exactly what’s in teh bill. Then, he says “You have every right to fear. You shouldn’t have counseling at the end of life…Should not have a government run plan to decide when to pull the plug on grandma” is something he doesn’t support, without saying it’s NOT in the bill. So now, it’s not about being against end-of-life counseling, b/c that’s not a longtime supportable position. But people still don’t understand that this perfectly sensible idea–planning for the worst–is what they’re arguing against. Bastard.

Exactly! Arianna Huffington was on Countdown tonight and she said it best. “Enough of this phony bippartisan show Mr. President! The Republicans will never vote for this bill”. She said that Obama should just say, “If you want to work with us fine, you can join us, if not, get out of the way” and just put together a strong public option and insurance reform and pass it with 51 votes.” I totally agree. It will be interesting to see what the Whitehouse’s response is. Chris Hayes of The Nation said that Harry Reid should censure Grassley because he’s a US Senator and he actually lied about something that’s not in the bill. I just wish they’d throw his crazy, old, country bumpkin ass off the committe….tomorrow! I love this President but, he has to see this clearly for what it is. Nothing more than duplicity by this fucking moron!

Maybe if people knew 20 years before they were going to die that they were going to die, they’d get the counseling and deal with their end-of-life issues. In Grassley’s world, apparently, the elderly shouldn’t have a say in whether drastic measures should be taken to prolong their lives because they didn’t have the talk 20 years prior. ‘Else they have some special insider information…God forbid that the gov’t make the passing of a loved one any easier on those left behind.

Grassley is an old, moneyed, ignorant, useless, self-propelled sack of pig shit.
