A follow-up to a post from yesterday about Harry Reid's position on the public option.
“But there are many ways we can do [the public option],” he said. “One would be to have an entity like Medicare. I really don’t favor that. I think what we should have is a private entity that has direction from the federal government.”
His spokesman, Jim Manley confirmed:
Manley adds, "The govt could contract w a private company to administer the public option."
So Harry Reid's position is that we privatize the public option before we even establish the damn thing. Reid wants to do with the public option what the Republicans want to do with Social Security and Medicare -- what they've already done with the military. Privatize it. Reid clearly hasn't been paying attention to, you know, the news. Paraphrasing a commenter, Reid wants to do for the public option what KBR and Blackwater have done for Iraq.
