I Don’t Know Who Is More Irresponsible

Chris Matthews or the freak who brought the handgun to the president’s town hall event yesterday.

This guy brandishes a loaded handgun in the vicinity of our president while carrying a sign about “the blood of tyrants” — and how exactly did he spend his evening? Discussing tax policy and political science on Hardball.

Now, credit where credit is due, Matthews really grilled this guy about bringing a gun to a presidential event. But it all happened in the context of the gunman being invited on TV to express his Ron Paul cookie-cutter libertarian views.

So here’s what MSNBC has taught us: if you bring a loaded handgun to a presidential rally with a sign that vaguely threatens the life of the president… you get to be on TV to discuss your politics as though you’re very serious!

Well, to be fair the sign stopped short of the ‘blood of tyrants’ part of the quote, but given that that was apparently the motto of Timothy McVeigh I’m sure everybody in that particular crowd knew what he was getting at.I watched about 2 minutes of it. It looked like the guy thought he was getting an open soapbox at the start of the segment, and Matthews brought him up short at first, so good for him there. I didn’t see the rest. Matthews needs to start ignoring that ‘leg-tingle’ of his.

Our Boston news reported this morning that this man is in custody for having an unregistered firearm in the trunk of his car.How did Matthews manage to get this interview before they hauled this guy off to jail?

Bob,I agree with your assessment – but in Matthews defense (Jeebus. Am I really defending Chris Matthews?), having this loon on may have acted as a preemptive strike against Fox, who would have no doubt treated the fucker as a folk hero.Of course, Fox will probably do that anyway.

There’s just something backwards about this.I just remember seeing liberal protesters being pepper-sprayed at Bush’s 2005 inaugural parade. And this gunman gets to be on TV.

ec – the guy with the handgun in his car was a different guy. He was originally arrested for trying to get into the town and was carrying a pocket knife. Subsequent search of his car turned up the handgun.I know others may feel differently, but I can’t help but believe that continued exposure of the crazies in this whole mess is going to work for us in the long run.

(sorry – ‘get into the town’ should be ‘get into the town hall meeting’).

Bob, lefty protestors were treated for more harshly under the President Pissy Pants and Thin Skin regime. What gets me about this guy yesterday though is how obtuse or oblivious to what his gun combined with his protest sign was, or just how disingenuous he was being by acting like it was no big deal to wear a gun and didn’t understand all of the fuss. You don’t wear a gun to a protest, period. But you definitely don’t wear one with a sign referencing the tree of liberty needing to be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots. Was he sending a message to patriots at that protest? I doubt it. So he was referring to Obama as a tyrant. Do the math. That was more than just a veiled threat. I can’t believe the Secret Service didn’t wisk this guy off someplace immediately.

I don’t think the guy was oblivious at all. He knew exactly what he was doing. When he was standing there with his sign and every once in a while the camera would pan up to his face instead of framing the gun you could see him taking little sideways glances to see if the camera was looking. He reminds me of a brat kid who, when given rules about acceptable behavior, skirts right up to the line and sticks his tongue out at you. Stays within the ‘rules’, but clearly doesn’t as far as emotion goes.I wouldn’t be surprised if the Secret Service apprised Obama of the situation and were told to let it pass.

Hopefully, by Tweety having this nutter on the teevee, it will show those non-Lizard brains how far out of control things have gotten. But they should already know that.

I am still waiting for Chris Matthews to ask him if he can see his gun, in the way that only Matthews can, like some prepubescent teen drooling over a firecracker. As for Kostric, I can only wonder if he thought this thing through all the way. Within a week’s time, anyone watching Cable News will know nearly everything there is to know about him, including any military service (good or bad), education, marital history, job history, college, criminal records, driving record, etc, etc, etc.Maybe he’s squeaky clean, but I’m guessing the media is about to have a circus…again.

PPP gives such an apt description of Matthews’ manner of presentation. He rambles on like one of those know-it-all dorks in a record or comic book shop about important issues. Every once in a while the entire affectation presents something worth noting in only for the sheer spectacle, but really, watching religiously will make you hate that which is being discussed. You don’t want an individual like Matthews being the face of political discourse. You just don’t. He and O’Lielly the coward share the title of “Ultimate Media Dork.”You ever see the video of Matthews leering at Erin Burnett? It’s the creepiest goddamned thing you’ll ever see. Very funny, but damned creepy. Like I said, sometimes the sheer spectacle produces something worth noting.

I see want he is trying to accomplish, but this does much more harm than good. Why would any responsible journalist give a platform to a man who is openly promoting violence against the POTUS. Why does he allow Pat Buchannon to spew his Southern Stratagy nonsence night after night. Why does he have Tom Delay on to give his twisted view of democrats in congress. allow opposing views to be aired is great, but cant they find someone with any credibility or actual good intentions.

If GWB was still President this guy would be drinking a gallon of water right now through his nasal cavity. What makes this so ironic is here is a guy saying that his liberties have been taken away and yet he is allowed to carry a gun at a Presidential event. If that is not Liberty I don’t know what is? How much more liberty do they want. Perhaps what we need to start asking these people is what liberties have been stripped from them exactly?
