John Hughes Died

Whoa.

John Hughes, director of culturally significant films such as "The Breakfast Club," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," died suddenly today of a heart attack while taking a morning walk during a trip to Manhattan. He was 59.

Terrible news. Hughes was perhaps the signature filmmaker of my generation.

My favorite Hughes film is easily Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Elvis and I were chatting about this scene not too long ago:

Too goddamn funny. It's a shame we won't be able to experience more of this kind of genius.
