Sigh

More bipartisanship porn. This time from the White House.

Despite confronting near absolute opposition from the Republican side of the aisle on health care, President Obama and Senate Democrats stressed during a lunch on Tuesday that reform still needed to be done in a bipartisan fashion, a White House aide said. [...]

“I think there was just really a sense about the importance of making progress and getting a bill done,” the aide, who was in attendance, said. “And that they are committed to working with Republicans to do it. The president believes that that is important.”

I really hope this is part of some sort of broader political strategy wherein the White House eventually scams and embarrasses the Republicans. Otherwise, the bill is going to be further watered down and crapped up in this effort to include the GOP, only for the Republicans to vote against it anyway. This happened with the recovery bill and it will surely happen with healthcare. Don’t these people ever learn? Ignore. All. Republicans.

Seriously, Mr. President? WTF?

The Dems need to realize that watered down bills (that the Republicans won’t vote for)will hurt them in 2010 and 2012–I am so disgusted–with the Blue Dogs–but more importantly, the media. It is amazing to me that they assist in the confusion–airing BLATANT falsehoods under the “some say” banner. pathetic.

I think Obama’s playing a part here, Bob. It’s kabuki. He says nice things about bipartisanship even though you have to know he’ll ram it right down their throats if he needs to. Health care reform is a signature issue for this president, so I’m not going to join in the oh noes.

Come on, of course it’s BS.

I trust Obama–I do not trust the Blue Dogs or the corporate MSM.

I seriously hope you’re right, sir.

I totally agree. I’m sick of this bipartisan bullshit unless it’s just lip service. I have to think you might be right Mstt because this is Obama’s signature program or it could be. Anyway I’ve been hearing a lot of “we’ll get it done with or without Republicans” from several Dems who’ve appeard on MSNBC so I do feel somewhat endcouraged. I’m also starting to see the inevitable backlash that’s being directed at these lunatic shouters at these town halls. It’s starting to look like the return of the “Kill Him” and “Terrorist” chants that helped to bring down that bastard McCain’s campaign. The tide may be starting to turn. The reat test will be the Sunday shows. Let’s see if they continue to presents these loons as representatives of legitimate discourse. Fuck Republicans! They lost!

That’s Matt! “Sorry about that Matt”

Hopefully Mr. the President knows that polls say people want bipartisanship, but what they really want is effective government.

I hope you are right about Obama scamming the rethugs.I don’t get it. Obama and the Dems just need to put together a Single Payer package and pass it with 51 votes. The rethugs are going to fuck up everything that Obama lets them get close to. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. I’m sick of paying $700/month for four(4) prescriptions. This is bullshit.
