WTF?

Did I just hear Chris Matthews tell Charlie Cook and Pat Buchanan that the gun-toting wingnuts who have turned up at the president’s town halls succeeded in forcing the president to back away from the public option?

Unless I was hearing things, that could be the most insane and irresponsible thing I’ve heard Matthews say in quite a long time.

Ah yes. Just looked up the video (Timecode 7:44). Matthews said:

I think these crazy town meetings work… In a weird way, these guys even with the guns really helped him [Obama?]. They’ve shown the virulence of the critics.

Brilliant! Bring guns to presidential events is awesome according to Mr. Matthews.

By the way, no fewer than 12 wingnuts showed up at the president’s event in Arizona with guns strapped to their legs — compensating for their tiny, flaccid penises.

You appear surprised, Bob. Everyone knows that Matthews’s political acumen should be likened to the Tasmanian Devil from the Looney Tunes shorts.

I am so depressed about this–our MSM is pouring gasoline on this fire. It is one thing to igbnore facts and using fake balance to air the right wing falsehoods–it is quite another to essentially enable and promote violence. What would the MSM have done if someone brought a gun to any of Bush’s town halls–they would have gone nuts with the “anti-American/unpatriotic” accusations that were all over the place if someone even questioned Bush on anything. If this keeps up, I do not see how this ends well–and this is just a primer for 2012. so sad. I have stopped watching cable news other than KO/RM because I cannot support the fact free zone that seems to be salivating over the drama of potential violence.

“By the way, no fewer than 12 wingnuts showed up at the president’s event in Arizona with guns strapped to their legs — compensating for their tiny, flaccid penises.“That needed to be said. Well played, sir.

Oh, I see from the video the dummies behind these phony protest found them a mini-Michael Steele, too. How cute. And they put a large assault rifle on his back so that he’d stand out from the rest of the goons on camera. The exercise was designed to imply that it’s not just Caucasian bitter-clingerers that are demented enough to bring weapons to a political event.Aren’t these open displays of stupidity, genuine or otherwise, getting tedious?

Hm. Remember all the hoopla over then-candidate Obama mentioning people “clinging to their guns and religion?”Maybe President Obama is a bit of a prophet.

Yes JG, so true. That’s why I truly think it’s vital that all these letters find their way to those in the MSM as well. Let’s make it harder for them to ignore us.Also, people of Arizon: just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD.

Remember when (vice)president Cheney visited New Orleans after Katrina during a teevee interview a doctor got to to exercise his freedom of speech by yelling “go fuck yourself” and was soon after detained by the secret service.just wondering if the 1st and 2nd amendments are regarded differently by the s.s.

Also: WHY THE FUCK DOES A CIVILIAN NEED AN ASSUALT RIFLE????

J,Well, when you can see Russia from your house, an assault rifle can come in handy!

Matthews says the most insane things. He may have a lot of political memory, but he is unable to analyze information rationally. I think he is also losing his filter. The one we use to not blurt out nonsensical thoughts.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters said on CNN tonight that no Progressive Democrats will compromise on the Public option. She said they had compromised in the 90′s on single-payer and “look where it got us”. She sounded quite adamant that no bill will be approved without a Public option. Campbell Brown and the other two “heads” had no response whatsoever. It was awesome.

Rachel interviewed a guy who is the head of some Secret Service agency or something like that. Anyway, this guy says that it does make it tougher for them to both guard the President and the loons but, he did say that the Secret Service can expand the perimiters. My question is, WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY WAITING FOR? Whenever the President is in town they should make these fucking idiots stand about 5 or 10 city blocks away. These pricks would either have to lose the heat or stand so far away that they won’t even be seen by the press. If I were Michelle I’d have a nice little chat with the Secret Service about how they’re going to protect my husband! Actually, it wouldn’t be a nice little chat!

Tweetie should be so very proud of himself. He gave the nutjob with a gun a forum last week so it was just a matter of time until more of them came out with theirs. Like you said Bob, “bring a gun, get on tv.” And the MSM is more than happy to put them all on tv over and over all day and night. This is making me sick and I’m very afraid something terrible is going to happen.

I am so very ashamed of living in Arizona. Idiot hillbillies.

Listen, I grew up with hunting and guns and we have a couple in the house. But where I come from—the country—showing up with sidearms in a non-sporting environment is an AGGRESSIVE act. Why don’t people GET this?

It’s like this. I live in New York. In this state, a woman can be topless anywhere a man can be. So yes, I could walk the streets of NYC with my boobs hanging out, but I DON’T because I am not a CHILD who needs to do EVERYTHING I’m allowed to.
