Go Senator Stabenow!

Today in the Finance Committee:

SENATOR KYL: “I don’t need maternity care, and so requiring that to be in my insurance policy is something that I don’t need and will make the policy more expensive.”

SENATOR STABENOW: “I think your Mom probably did.”

By the way, prior to 2007, Medicare covered Viagra.

I’m betting he doesn’t need coverage for testicular cancer, either.

Yeah, if women don’t have maternity care, Jon Kyl doesn’t get anything for his boy parts, and why stop at testicles? Prostate problems, Senator? Sorry, but not everyone has a prostate, so you’re SOL.

Also, points to Senator Stabenow for dishing out a contextually accurate ‘your mom’ zinger. I’ve always said that CSPAN would be spiced up a little by a few well-placed ‘and that’s what she said’s

Read the following in the Salina Journal and had to share:The modern versionAnd Jesus went again to Cana in Galilee. A man who had heard that Jesus had healing powers traveled to Cana also. This man told Jesus about the terrible illness that his son had and asked Jesus to heal his son. Jesus talked to the man and heard about the illness, which was killing the man’s son.Jesus asked the man for his insurance card and the co-pay. The man said that he had no insurance. Jesus rebuked the man and told him that he had been irresponsible in not having health insurance for his son and that he could not be healed.Jesus also reminded the man that his son had been ill earlier in his life — a pre-existing condition — and that the man was trying to take advantage of Jesus and his goodness.Jesus preached to those who had gathered about the prosperity gospel, capitalism, and how his father in heaven had created the “free market system.” Jesus told the crowd that it was very important to gather as much riches as possible, even at the expense of those who have little, to take with them to their gigantic McMansion in the sky. The crowd was amazed at Jesus’ wisdom and gave him a lot of money. The man was very, very sad. He wept. Jesus sent the man home. The man’s family met him on the way home and told him his son had died. This new sign, the second, was a clear message to Christians everywhere.– GLEN E. STOVALL, Salinapsychotherapist

I wasn’t aware medicare had stopped paying for viagra – I’m glad they have, though.

I remember reading an article several years ago about how the DoD pharmacy system was in a financial crisis because of the ridiculous amount of viagra they were dispensing. The “solution” was to limit people to 10 pills per month. Your government also spends ridiculous amounts of money on fertility treatments.

Why is it OK to play god in these cases? My arguments that the if the jeebus baby doesn’t want you to conceive, there’s a reason fell on deaf ears :P
