Hail to the Chief

Today was the second presidential event in a week in which they played Hail to the Chief when the president entered. I could be wrong, but this is a new development in the Obama presidency. I don’t think he’s used Hail to the Chief until now.

Any fellow presidency wonks know for sure?

Good point Bob! I’m not sure if I’ve heard them play it before either?

Yes, they have… I don’t think they have always played it but they have played it before.. mostly when he is at military functions or overseas.

I don’t understand why it is significant.Trying to undercut the pro-america mantra of the opposition? It isn’t large enough of a thing to notice outside of people who follow politcs that closely.I didn’t know one way or the other until Bob brought it up.

Good. He deserves it. He’s earned it fair and square. He beats the hell out of ANY Republican president in the past half century.Think about that. For all the loud noises republicans make about their superiority, what have they done? When I think Nixon, I think racist Watergate “crook.” Ford? The embodiment of a lifelong fraternity prank. Reagan? I think Bush 41′ and the Carlyle Group, Iran Contra, the greatest creditor nation turned debtor nation, duck and cover nuclear arms race, and B-actor/fake cowboy guy. Bush 41′? I think elitest career CIA spook and international arms dealer.W? Where were all these self-righteous Constitution lovers when we were instituting an unprecedented policy of an under-equipped pre-emptive war after a “successful” campaign of wealth redistribution and class warfare perpetrated on the middle class and “working poor” to compliment the biggest intelligence failure in American history? No-bid contracts, accelerated use of private mercenaries, plastic wrapped billions disappeared on a Baghdad tarmac? “We do not torture…?” The Geneva Convention was “quaint?” What about the partisan political warfare at the DOJ? The federal government letting Katrina drown, pointing guns at women and children at the Superdome, and the mass-misappropriation of relief funds that followed?Holy fucking shit, man. This is the short list. I have to ask– Why do Republicans and their doofus presidents hate the American people so much? When you examine their body of work, you can only sigh with disbelief that we’ve made this far. I couldn’t take anyone seriously that believes the planet, especially the environment where all life is derived and nurtured, would be better off with these exploitative career dipshits like Strom Thurmond-Lee Atwater-Karl Rove-Newt Gingrich-Sarah Palin-Grover Norquist-Erik Prince-Dick Cheney-Tom Delay-Bill Kristol-John Boehner-Sean Hannity-Michael Savage-Rush Limbaugh-Glenn Beck- and all their off-to-glory-faced rabblerousers and zombies who never stop the relentless search to find new ways to murder and neglect and lie to Americans with a hollow-headed trash can of ideas. When you strip the Republican party of religious fanatics, or Christian Mullahs, they’re left with a minority within a minority of Confederate holdovers and aspiring corporate lobbyists.Fuck them, man. Negotiating with these people is like dealing with a domestic terrorist organization.Hail To The Chief, motherfuckers! The best president America has had in half a century. He’s the Hostage Negotiator In Chief.

Excellent statement MrBrink! Tell The Truth And Duck!Fuck yeah! Hail To The Mother Fuckin Cheif! He’s elegant, intellegent, camera ready and they don’t have anyone like him. Asswipes!

That is a fantastic post, Mr. Brink. I would only add that these “conservatives” were conspicuously absent when Bush pushed through the tax cuts, the prescription drug nightmare and the billions for the war in Iraq that was supposed to pay for itself with Iraqi oil. Where in all hell were these protesters and those nutcase pundits then?

The WH is well aware that Obama’s razzle dazzle is fading. This is an attempt by the WH to boost him up because he is losing power and control.

  • MrBrink

Terri said: “This is an attempt by the WH to boost him up because he is losing power and control.”That’s a laugh. The duly elected President of The United States is losing power and control….?Nevermind that he’s officially exposed the GOP as a party of kooks and irrational fanatics. Or that he’s the world’s most popular figure after an odds-defying historic election less that an year ago. Or that he wrestled back leadership and sanity in the healthcare “debate” from congressional democrats not vocal enough to thwart decades of instituted crazy, or that he got a huge post-Joint boost for leading this charge.A wise fictional character once said this: “Stuff is getting better. It’s getting better all the time.”Your “observations” are conspiratorial and lack a peripheral scope.
