Nine Twelve

As Glenn Beck’s pasty white zombies descend on Washington for the 9/12 Rally, I can’t help but the recall these words:

You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims’ families. It took me about a year. Um, and I had such compassion for them and I really, you know, I wanted to help them, and I was behind — let’s give them money, let’s get them started, and all of this stuff. And I really didn’t — all the 3,000 victims’ families, I don’t hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I’m just like, ‘Oh, shut up.’ I’m so sick of them. Because they’re always complaining. And we did our best for them. And again, it’s only about ten.

—Glenn Beck, 9/9/05

UPDATE: Sargent is reporting that officials are expecting two million to show up. Two million?! I hope they don’t trample too much of the socialized land they’ll be using.

The aide, Doug Thornell, warned in the memo that the dust-up over Joe “you lie” Wilson has been invigorating conservatives. “It looks like Saturday’s event is going to be a huge gathering, estimates ranging from hundreds of thousands to 2 million people,” Thornell wrote in the memo, which was forwarded by a source.

They’re invigorated by Joe Wilson. Nice. By the way, cable news — as predicted — is still talking about it.

I’m glad you wrote about this Bob! I was on Greg Sargent’s the plumline and everyone is hoping that these clowns show up with all their racist, ignorant and misspelled words. I know that several congressmen are also going to appear. Let’s hope it get’s really ugly! It’s only going to make them look even worse if that’s possible. I personally hope one of these loons falls down and shoots himself in the ass with his gun! Or maybe they’ll be severe thunder storms all day. I live in New Jersey and the forcast here tomorrow is rainy and damp at 69 degrees.

    That’s what’s so great about Glenn Beck.He’s such a compassionate Crazy™ fuck.

Speaking of “White Zombies,”maybe someone should set up speakers to blast this song at them tomorrow.

What would really be great is if the microphones keep giving off that loud, piercing feedback so that they’re all forced to just scream out their rhetoric and no one can really hear them!

This news is more like it. Also on Greg Sargent’s the plumline from Brian Beutler:For reference, 2 million is just a hair under four times the total population of Washington, D.C., and approximately the number of people who showed up to the history-making inauguration of President Barack Obama. It gets better! I read on politico that the organizers just had to evacuate their headquarters because of a bomb scare. The story was updated and said that it was a false alarm and everyone is now back at their desks but, the best part is that they’re now saying that they expect between 20 to 30,000 people. Riiiiiight! I hate politico but, I like to keep my eye on the enemy. Which is why I also have the faux news website on my favorites list. So we’ve gone from 2 million to 30,000? Some are saying that the Dems put out that 2 million figure so that if they do get a huge crowd, the Dems can say they expected it. I think they did it to raise expectations so that when it falls short, they can down play it. Either way it’s genius!

You gotta wonder how many would show up if the cable news reported actual “news” and not this shit 24 hours a day. By tomorrow it will be the “Breaking News”…again. God rest your soul Walter Cronkite.

  • Steve B

I’m pretty sure he’s in part talking about the Jersey Girls who were part of the Family Steering Committee asking for an investigation into the events of that day and ended up with a commission. Those family members were instrumental in removing Kissinger as the executive director of the commission. So when people call those who want an investigation (remember there has not been a criminal investigation yet) into the biggest crime in American history ‘tinfoil hatters’ or ‘conspiracy theorists’ they are also calling family members of the victims those derogatory names.

I wonder where they are going to park all the RV’s.

    CHECK THIS OUT! FROM FIREDOGLAKE!

  • roxsteady

Sorry! Here’s what’s happening. A woman posted a comment on firedoglake.com about a story that Jane Hamsher posted. This woman said that she and her mom who is 89 years old and both are in wheelchairs, have participated in several prostests. She said that this is a civil rights issue. She then suggested that we organize a march in Wahsington on Sunday but, I thought that since that was basically the day after tomorrow I posted the following message:I’m going to send emails to Rahcel and Keith everyday until we can get them to mention this. Or perhaps Jane could make an appearance on MSNBC again and mention the march. I think that if we do it that following Saturday instead of the day after tomorrow, we could really make an impact. Not only would it make a huge statement to the Blue Dogs but, we could really twist the knife if we get the percentages of the people in their states that support the public option and wear that on our signs and T-shirts. For instance, in Maine, which is Olympia Snowe’s state, 60′% supports the public option. Even though she’s not a Democrat, you get the idea. We need time to get the word out to bring in numbers that will crush these ignorant teabaggers and the duplicitous Blue Dogs!We want to organize a march on Washington next Saturday, September 19th. We’d have a whole week to put this toghether and promote it. Let’s get the word out!

  • DaveM

I predict 10-20,000. You heard it here first.

  • camel54

Okay, to be fair, if they were giving out free Jack Daniel’s, I would so be there. I would hold a sign and everything. I mean, we’re talking about Jack here.

In the preface to this (source: youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf33g9ep4YU), he says, “I don’t think anybody in their right mind is going to say this out loud”. Well, he’s 100% correct about that at least.

  • Chris Koeber

50,000 AT MOST.They had six months to plan but they still will be a massive failure. The tea baggers had the Fox news network blasting their planned protest for a week before April 15th all over the country yet they still failed (100,000 at most all over the country). Then they had the 4th of July and some coverage on Fox (not as much but better than what most protests get). They also had months to plan. Massive fail. This will be even shittier.
