The Answer Is ‘They Like to Make Loud Noises’

President Obama during his address to the Congressional Black Caucus:

“I was up at the G20 — just a little aside — I was up at the G20, and some of you saw those big flags and all the world leaders come in and Michelle and I are shaking hands with them,” the president said. “One of the leaders — I won’t mention who it was — he comes up to me. We take the picture, we go behind.

“He says, ‘Barack, explain to me this health care debate.’

“He says, ‘We don’t understand it. You’re trying to make sure everybody has health care and they’re putting a Hitler mustache on you — I don’t — that doesn’t make sense to me. Explain that to me.’”

It doesn’t make sense to anyone with a rational mind. The best answer is that the wingnuts love to make loud noises. It’s all they’ve got, and it’s no wonder since their leaders are an impotent race-baiter and a googly-eyed paranoiac. How else can a biracial, liberal son of an African immigrant be labeled a “Nazi?” As I wrote earlier this week, Nazis are either opening their doors very wide, or the charge is absolutely ridiculous.

Here’s the speech (or most of it):

Part 2 with the Hitler mustache story after the jump…

It is unfortunate that our country is perceived by it’s lowest common denominator. As I watched the Sunday morning bloviations, it only accented the fact that DAMN, this President has alot on his plate from things going on outside of our country. He doesn’t need fucktards from our own country trying to undermine everything he tries to do here and abroad. How pathetic it is when people that consider themselves patriotic Americans, are the most unamerican pieces of shit that can’t get their own prejudice and lemming mentality out of the way to support our President. There needs to be a Pro Obama campaign started somewhere that eclipses the right wing rhetoric. Any suggestions?I saw photos of people protesting Glenn Beck’s key to the city at Mt. Vernon. That was great to see, it seemed they outnumbered his supporters and they were calling him out for what he is. To some extent, that shakes their foundation and they subside trying to regroup. I believe that’s why we didn’t see more right wing prominence during the campaign, Obama’s support was overwhelming wherever he went. We need to see that again. Everyone may not agree with Obama 100% on every topic and issue, but I’m proud of the attempts he’s made to this point to get us back on track. Just imagine what our country would be like had McCain and Palin been the victors on November 4th. This should be a no brainer.

I hate to say it, but wingnuts are winning the message war with “tough yards,” to borrow a phrase from football. They’re scratching and clawing and screaming for message control and they’re creating just enough reasonable doubt and subtle(think Peggy Noonan)innuendo to delegitimize the president’s stated goals, while Senate republicans quietly handicap executive appointments, giving the impression that it’s Obama who can’t get it together, or that he’s “just as bad as Republicans.”Robert L. Borosage said: “Republicans are knee-capping the postman and complaining that the mail is late.”Right on. But It’s kinda working out for them. They’re dragging everyone else down with them. But let’s take a general trip through recent history and add up some of the sucker punches and the toll they’re taking.Inauguration Day: Inarguably one of the most inspiring days in American presidential election history. The next day the media, led by smug right wing assholes with sour grapes, were talking about the president’s flubbed “oath” administered by Chief Justice Roberts. “Is president Obama really the president, now?” “What was Aretha’s hat all about…?” They found a way to shit on the day like the spiteful and jealous pricks they are. Tainted. The Stimulus: All the economists I subscribe to, and many that I do not, agreed that a stimulus was needed. But not to John Boehner, Bobby Jindal, Rush, on and on. To them it wasn’t going to create or save any jobs– it’s actually working, but because they’re saying it loudly and with certainty, it adds doubt. Tainted.ACORN: The president’s community organizing background leads to a relentless monied war on a non-profit community organizing group that helps the poor to have a voice in democracy. They used baseless “voter fraud” accusations to add doubt to the president’s election. They recently hit the message-war-vindication-jackpot with a few members of ACORN caught on tape offering nothing more than some questionable advice. ACORN– tainted. But not Blackwater, Dyncorp, or Halliburton/KBR?Justice Sonia Sotomayor: They trotted out poor ol’ Frank Ricci, who ironically, also benefitted from the Americans With Disabilities Act due to his dyslexia, in an concerted effort to paint the portrait of a racist and “un-wise Latina” who wrongfully discriminated against the ENTIRE White race and will do it again and again!!! “See, the Supreme Court said so, too!” An historic moment for equality, progress, and achievement in America– tainted.Cash for Clunkers: Mocked as a waste and socialism, it helped a struggling manufacturing/auto sector. “Cash for Clunkers” sounds like a clunky program to the Layman, and Frank Luntz’s wordplay study groups have indicated this perception to be a gut-checked belief with a lot of people, rather than a fact-based observation. Tainted.Healthcare: The president’s first attempt to address the crisis led to a discussion about race and a subsequent “Beer Summit,” rather than healthcare. Of course, the black guy was the racist, as Pat Buchanan stated over and over.Healthcare revisited: All about Joe Wilson and “you lie,” leading indirectly to yet another discussion about race and racism in a healthcare debate resulting in a million dollar fundraising war. Nevermind that Wilson IS a Confederate sympathizer and a lying liar. That’s twice Tainted!Healthcare, re-re-visited: The president goes on Sunday talk shows after the legitimate sense of urgency is ignored and marginalized throughout the summer; after his major speeches and dialog were suspiciously “upstaged” by side show freaks and corporate-funded liars. And instead of finally addressing this issue like adults and resolving a crisis that gets worse everyday, they(media and republicans)continue to obstruct and distract and the narrative now becomes, “is the president over-exposed….?“What the fuck is wrong with these people? There’s a fire in the national theater and he’s turning blue yelling, “fire!” The Healthcare debate has been reduced to a GOP proxy for a Southern Strategy race war. The media feeds the sickness. Tainted.Foreign Policy: The president gives one of the most honest speeches to the Muslim world opening a dialog intended to quell justifiable international resentment and make American national security an international goal. In Europe he’s received as an inspiration and worldwide rockstar diplomat. As a result, everyone wants their picture taken with our president. The U.S. is overwhelmed with long lost BFFs. Meanwhile, the hawks call him naive, with resident “foreign policy expert(?)” John McCain sounding like a douche whenever he rolls out the word, “naïveté.” Dick Cheney and his human-shield/progeny-from-hell-daughter— tour the all the talk shows explaining that “Obama’s policies will lead to another 9/11.” Liz and Dick Cheney: over-exposed? Naaaah. So they go on about how talking with Iran is weakness and suicide, and then we find out Iran has been “hiding” a secret enrichment program 100 miles outside Tehran. Nevermind that it’s not really a secret, or that they agree to IAEA UN inspections. “The Neocons were right!” bomb-bomb-bomb-bomb-bomb-Iran is revitalized. Tainted.Bipartisanship: Superbowl party, invitations to the WhiteHouse for policy discussions, and publicly praising John ‘Pals-around-with-terrorists’ McCain and Chuck ‘Obama-will-kill-grandma’ Grassley have been met with a dickishness reserved for unprincipled partisan backstabbers and savage warmakers. The GOP has circulated racist e-mails(“monkey” business, watermelons, and lynching talk). Encouraged ignorant protest and “birtherism,” gun-toting belligerence in general discourse leading to a 400% increase in death threats…even making fun of an organic garden, ridiculing an address to school children, and calling his daughters names for wearing a fucking t-shirt. The media wonders aloud through their Crossfire minds: “Is the president failing to achieve bi-partisanship?”Yeah. It’s totally him. Tainted.Van Jones: Glenn Beck’s arch nemesis, other than the voices in his head, launches a counter-attack against the green job-creating advisor as a defense of his lunacy and to save his lucrative Paranoia-Day-Destroying-ass. Van Jones resigns, giving Glenn Fucking Beck a scalp, even though his actions directly undermine job creation. Tainted. The President’s Recent UN Address: Hey. Did you know that President Obama addressed the UN to worldwide applause and hope for the future? Did you know he’s the first U.S. president to lead the UN Security Council on nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament talks? Maybe you didn’t know that because the national conversation has been narrowly focused on Moammar Gaddafi and where he was sleeping while in town. Tainted.Republican Approval Polling: John Boehner, Mitch McConnel, and the whole Republican party are polling in the shitter. Strike that– they’re Dick Cheney-type numbers being held together by white Evangelical males and Confederate sympathizers. This is a provable fact. You take away religious extremists and racists and you have a pitiful fringe minority party. Instead, the national narrative is obsessed with the president’s approvals, more than respectable by comparison, but directly aiding Republican party chances in the 2010 House races. It’s the president with the approval problem…? Huh?Joe Biden: Recently stated that if Republicans get back the House in 2010, the president’s agenda is “dead.” Thanks, Joe. Calling all crazies! Joe Biden just gave you your incentive. I guess the Jim Demint Waterloo comparison resonates with Joe Biden. We’re getting a little scared too, Joe. Why is that…?It’s already “death by a thousand paper cuts” and the media is playing the some-are-saying Executioner. It appears republicans have created some truth to their crazy, or maybe it’s just a coincidence, but it’s on the verge of becoming “common knowledge.”We’re still being Bushwacked and Republicanized.
