The Next Ad Boycott Begins Now

Rush Limbaugh predictably grapples his flapping arms around Drudge’s racist headline:

“[I]n Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering.”

See, with a Limbaugh ad boycott campaign, we could petition dinky local radio stations in our home towns — unfortunately, most local AM stations carry this impotent dickwad. These dinky local radio stations sell a lot of air time to dinky local businesses.

But here’s the only wrinkle. I think many of these stations carry Limbaugh for free. So the secret is to get local advertisers to cancel all of their advertising on the station until the Limbaugh show is dropped.

Adding… As a writer and producer, my career depends upon a robust First Amendment. Yes, Rush Limbaugh is exercising his freedom of speech. That doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to hold him accountable, though. If I were the government, on the other hand, that would be unconstitutional. But I’m just a citizen exercising my freedom of speech, too. And my speech says that Limbaugh has to go.

I simply cannot believe that such overt racism is allowed on air. Why would ANY business want to be associated with this vile lunatic? In my country, we value free speech every just as much as Americans do, but someone like Rush wouldn’t last 5 minutes on the air in Canada. Thank God for that.

I love high school violence is suddenly Obama’s fault. Because none of this shit happened under a Republican administration. “No, sir, that Big Government we piss our pants over so much was in there at the president’s request keeping the white kids save from the darkies.” Give me a fucking break. You know how Viagra’s supposed to cause heart attacks? Can somebody get a timeline on that? Is it soon?

  • Rogect8

Once, when I was in middle school, a black girl beat the shit out of a white girl on my schoolbus. I cheered. So did most of the rest of the bus (predominately black). The white girl had it coming. Please, Rush. Next.

I live in the St. Louis area, and when this story was shown on the local news this morning, even the Belleville police were saying that the attack was racially motivated. Kind of funny – now that the story has blown up on Drudge’s site and Limbaugh has picked it up, they are backing off…I just checked the St. Louis Post-Dispatch site and the story says they are “backtracking on whether the beating was racially motivated.” I can’t believe they even said it in the first place – I was astounded when I heard it coming out of their mouths.

I used to teach at the high school level. Whenever there was a fight, it didn’t matter who was fighting black/black, black/white, white/white, the kids cheered them on!

  • J

So, according to Rush, before Obama, black kids were beat up and white kids cheered–AS IT SHOULD BE. OK then.

  • J

@Steph in SC: Seriously. Find me a fight that isn’t surrounded by people cheering, especially on a high school campus.

This is Limbaugh one-upsmanship against Drudge. Its a competition for who can say the most fucked up shit.

Wimpbaugh is a pussy and a wanna-be dictator, as evidenced by the little WSJ article he wrote on the week of Obama’s inauguration. This little screed of his is not unusual, not is the fact that the smut-merchant, Matt Sludge, is attempting to co-opt the so-called “white resentment” angle the GOP thinks will benefit it in the long run.Is this all the GOP has? Really?Next year, we all need to teach these dingbats a lesson and vote even more of their asses out of office.BTW, good catch on the Serena/Kanye angle, Bob. The Serena moment was a spontaneously unprofessional, yet minor offense. However…the Kanye/Swift bit was an obvious stunt. Were all these people as upset with Ol’ Dirty Bastard interrupted Shawn Colvin’s moment over a decade ago? I’d bet not, most were too scared stewing over the latest gossip about the Clintons to care back then. And isn’t it convenient that two of the individuals involved have high-profile “interviews” on the same week of the incident at the VMAs? Bullshit!Ignore said bullshit accordingly, or follow just to be with the in-crowd of pop culture zombies.Stay alert, everyone.

  • Lexaburn

Oh, and the tape shows at least five students that, to my eye, apper “white,” yet aren’t getting harassed whatsoever. I also spot a few blacks reacting in horror over the incident. The raucous punks in the back were mostly male, and were probably cheering because they were getting a free show, as most dopey schoolkids would. This is a personal conflict that will be turned into a mini-Gates/Crowley situation by desperate right wing lunatics. Ignore all but the most intellectually considerate of coverage of this event, and pay the wingnuts or their minions in the media no extra mind.

  • The Colonel

I’m with you on this, but I doubt this will have much as much effect. Limbaugh’s been saying ridiculously racist crap for decades & nothing’s been done. Most of the advertising these people get are for things you see on late night infomercials.

If Rush cared he could invite these students down to Palm Beach for a beer, or a root beer and show the nation how to lead these young sculls filled with mush.Oh, yeah, he’d rather blather and fume than take any personal interest in someone’s life, unless of coarse it required viagra.

With Rush it is always black/white….what’s new?Why does anyone expect anything else from Rush. It’s ‘same ole, same ole …just a different day’with Rush, but, what never ceases to amaze me is that whatever he says is given such creedence by the msm…when they should just be dismissive of him.Oh well!

  • Tbest609

In Limbaugh’s America, black people get lynched while white people cheer.

  • JG

I think it’s a case of dissent (Dixie Chicks) vs. HATE speech that incites violence (Rush, Beck, et al.)

  • Lord Blankfiend

Yeah, I heard that as it was aired this morning – I didn’t know what the fuck he was talking about (not that I ever do) until I got home. But, anyway, I like his imitation of a black person cheering, “Right on! Right on?”What a douche. He’s still stuck in the 70′s with his caricatures of black peoples.I bet you HE got his ass whooped by a bunch of black kids when he was a kid, and that’s the ’cause of all his nonsense. If he didn’t, I hope he DOES get his ass whooped by a bunch of black kids.

  • keithalso

Only fat kids will get beat up. Poor Rush. He was one of those poor suckers that kids made fun of…

A while ago I worked with a white guy and an african american guy on a team at work. It was during the Rodney King episode and every day this white guy came in to ask our colleague about it, or some other news involving african americans. I’ll never forget his line. He finally got all fed up and said… “Rich, I don’t have “BNN”. I don’t necessarily know everything that goes on with black people!”. It really put the guy in his place.I thought about that beacuse that that’s what the “loyal opposition” (like how it can be “loyal” to be an opposition now that they are not in power) is tagging every f’n story that has any african american angle (especially if it is negative) to obama.Kanye? Check. Michael Vick on the Eagles? Check. Serena at the Open? Check. All because of an “upitiness” brought on in the euphoria of Obama’s win. Nevermind that Kanye rushed the stage before (he’s basically a lightly talented performer desperate for attention) and Michael Vick did all his crimes under the previous president and they were obviously Bush’s cross to bear. And, of course, who could forget all the heat Reagan took when McEnroe yelled at all the linesmen he yelled at.It is so obviously racially motivated. There is a large portion of society that cannot stand the fact that there is a black president. It really is very telling how completely they’ve lost their minds over this.

Can we get practical here? Does anyone have a link to a site from an organisation already on this, or does anyone have a list of his advertisers so we can start the ball rolling?I’m a “community organiser” and would be happy to help organise this community(and others)to start applying some economic pressure.

Bob, another angle would be to get Limbaugh pulled from Armed Forces Radio. That he’s being broadcast using our tax dollars is unconscionable and it needs to stop.
