No One Ever Suspects the Flu Shot!

Posted by Redmond

Here’s why Libertarians scare the ever-living fuck out of me. From a friend’s Facebook status earlier today:

Obama has now declared H1N1 a national emergency….there go our rights.

So remember, kids, when Barack Obama personally kicks in your door because you were too sissy to ammo up and jabs you with a government-mandated flu shot, that extra berry flavor is mind control.

Stupid ass wingnuts! I’m seriously concerned that I’ll be infected by some ignorant hillbilly with 2 teeth in his head, who thinks the flu shot is a gubmint conspiracy to inject all the white people with a deadly strain and kill them all!Sorry! I got all caught up in the fantasy. Need a cigarette now.

Two things:1 – Shhhh. Not so loud. They’ll die off faster that way… you know…. evolution.2 – I hope you defriended immediately, Redmond.

As someone currently recovering from H1N1, I would just like to say this to libertarians:FUCK YOU! MY FLU SHOT CAME TOO LATE!Get used to it, though. They’ll be saying “there go our rights” every time Obama puts on his socks.

I still say that 99% of people that claim to be “libertarian” only do so because they believe it’s the middle way between Democrat and Republican. And tell that douchebag that he should have been saying “there go our rights” long before Obama even ran for the Senate…

I partially agree with nano, but I don’t think that it’s so much seeking the middle ground as being too hip for either party and searching for a philosophy that sounds cool vs one that might actually work in the century we live in. (Seriously am I the only who feels like the libertarian argument just isn’t valid in a modern system, like it should have died with Queen Victoria? Just sayin’)

I’ve had a few of the local inbreds tell me they aren’t getting the shot because (a) they don’t trust anything produced so quickly and (2) they all claim to know someone who knows someone who became deathly ill from the shot.

You know, I’m not sure I am for better healthcare for everyone. I mean look how badly natural selection has been screwed by modern medicine so far ….

@Brutly – Funny because I actually do know someone (a very good friend) who has a client that works for Merck, and said that they won’t take the flu shot (the Merck person won’t) because enough tests haven’t been done, but the reason it was put out so quickly was for financial reasons. The business industry was afraid that people would call out sick by the millions and thereby lose revenue.I don’t know about the validity of that, but it’s put doubt into my friend who happens to be pregnant and probably should get vaccinated. Who the hell really knows?

@Carly: I think it was put out quickly because the gov’t is afraid of a serious outbreak that may kill a lot of people. Just imagine the outcry if so many people died and the gov’t did nothing? Ya know, like Katrina.

Gee, a lot of people seem to be playing the stoopid, foolish, ignorant card right about now! What is wrong with precautionary tactics, anyway?.have we become so paranoid, and are now suffering with persecution complexes? My advice…..go get your damn flu shot and calm thy selves.
